Here's the reveal of the Grim Ghost figure in its packaging form this morning's Mego Museum newsletter... -M So is that an actual reprint behind it or just cover art? If someone is producing Atlas reprints, that could mean a collected edition is in the works. I hope not. When are publishers gonna realise that I am not made of cash?

Not sure if it’s just the ones that are going to NYCC or not.

When are publishers gonna realise that I am not made of cash? Exactly why they should print one, unless you already have a copy of Gothic Romances #1.

There's some in the figures at NYCC, but they are also handing out reprints of Atlas comics at NYCC separate from the figures. They mentioned Wulf was not one of the figures in the first wave but they will have reprints of Wulf 1 at NYCC for Larry Hama to sign for fans.

They mentioned Wulf was not one of the figures in the first wave but they will have reprints of Wulf 1 at NYCC for Larry Hama to sign for fans. This seems like a very good sign. Walmart has attempted Walmart Exclusive comics on multiple occasions in the past (with some Marvel trades (circa 2014 I want to say, there was a GoTG, Cap and couple other collections from the Marvel Now era), with the DC Giants, and with an indy publisher founded by Mitch Breitweiser who burned a lot of bridges with traditional publishers over politics and formed his own company based out the same area of Arkansas as Walmart's home. The Marvel trades sold out quickly but I saw them sitting at clearance prices at con tables for a couple of years afterwards. The DC books seemed to do well but again, a lot of it was comic vendors snapping them up to flip. I don't think I ever saw the Britweister comics everywhere except the same endcap wrap in the 2 Walmarts in town and it didn't seem like any copies were ever missing. But with Walmart carrying more trades and manga, it wouldn't surprise me to see Walmart exclusive collections of the Atlas stuff (and maybe even of the 2010/2012 era Atlas revival books as well). But the thrust of the deal for Walmart is to position themselves as a hub for collectibles at retail and to expand that section of the floor in stores as their toy and physical media sections shrink. Packaging comics in toys has been a strategy used by both Hasbro with Marvel Legends and by McFarlane toys, so I think this is more them aping that strategy than a move for them to get into comics. The company that owns the Atlas rights is a film production company, not a publisher, and I am pretty sure their focus is on movies, TV and merch, not comics. So while it is possible you will see a collection as a Walmart Exclusive, I wouldn't say it was likely or even a priority for either the Atlas owners or Walmart. -M

PS Walmart also carried the Disney comics by Peachtree at some point but I don't know if they were Walmart exclusives and I am not sure how well those sold.
As a footnote to the DC giants-DC eventually decided to make the Giants available via Direct Market and Walmart after a year of being exclusive. Each has a different cover. Within 6 months of that decision, the Giant line was discontinued. Likely a coincidence, but if the bulk of Walmart sales were to flippers and they suddenly weren't hard to get or were available elsewhere so Walmart sales dipped and they ended the deal, there's a chance that could have been a factor to the decision to end the initiative on Walmart's end.

I was under the impression that Peachtree was Dollar Tree exclusive. At the very least, that's where I picked up all my Peachtree Disney books.

Our Walmart had a rack hanging on the side of the endcap near the kids' books aisle that was all Peachtree Disney Comics, which was the only place I had ever seen them. So I don't know. I didn't think they were Walmart Exclusive, but I did see both the Walmarts in town carrying them. -M

The Grim Ghost is the only one of the first batch I'll likely go out of my way to pick up, as he and Scorpion were the two Atlas books that really stood out to me. I do see a lot of people whining that the packaging doesn't look "70s." Fans are the worst.

Coming in 2025 for McFarlane Super Powers: I wish the line would grow a little bigger than this--more female figures and villains, more vehicles, a Hall of Justice--but right now I'm just grateful it's still going. Enough Supermans and Batmans already, though.

Agreed.
Have they done Catman? Will they do so? I know, I know, niche, but I like him.
