I know. I am so lost because I don't really do the Bond movie/book/whatever thing. I see the appeal for others to like it, but it's not my thing. Never has been. And I've tried. You don't even like the movies? If I answer this, you will probably dislike me forever, and you'll think differently of meeeeee.

Nah, If it's not for you, what can I say? There are franchises that I would never watch as well. I haven't seen one minute of the Hunger games or Harry Potter movies.

Change of subject - sort of. I never had any love for comic book adaptations of movies or TV shows. I don't think you can properly capture the excitement of moving pictures in a comic book. There. I said it. I very much disagree with this. I think that a good comic book adaptation of a movie provides an alternate and, yes, different, but no less satisfying experience, to the movie itself. Archie Goodwin and Al Williamson's adaptation of The Empire Strikes Back for example is every bit as enjoyable as the movie itself to me. Having said that, good comic book adaptations of movies are indeed pretty rare. But that doesn't mean that you absolutely can't ever "capture the excitement of moving pictures" in a comic book.

I haven't even touched a single Hunger Games thing. And I probably never will. I've seen the Harry Potter movies and read through book 4 (I think?), however, I can barely name a single Harry Potter name or anything. People are constantly categorizing things into the various houses, and I never get it. I am clueless. So, to answer your question: I have watched the more recent Bond movies, and they're simply okay. Not great, but okay. Would I watch them again? Please do not make me.

I have a very hard time watching some of the older Bond films because of the sexism. From Russia with Love I can't sit through at all. Yes, pretty much every Bond film is going to be somewhat sexist, but watching Bond make a woman fall in love with him by beating her up is too much for me. I do really like Dr. No, Goldeneye, and the Craig movies.

Also, Bond beat a lot of people up for info. Man or woman.

However, even after saying that, I still read comics where there is quite a bit of sexism. Especially golden age Wonder Woman. I read it, though, with fascination at how far we have come (and a reminder of how far we have left to go). I mean, this slays me: There is at least two WTFs there.

Yes, this is bizarre by our standards, but remember that "make love to" meant "to court," to flirt with," to woo," and did not suggest anything physical. At least Steve didn't "go undercover" with the other woman.

The 1940s definition of 'making love' always threw me if it ever came up in a comic or movie when I was younger.

In fact, every complaint you have can equally be leveled against almost any Mickey Spillane novel. In both cases I ignore those parts. I love From Russia for two reasons: 1) There is an actually story as opposed to the endless quest through exotic locations and nothing much else; and two 2) the performances by Robert Shaw and, in particular, Pedro Armendariz as Kerim Bay. Every now and then I enjoy going back and just watching certain actors work.
