I never understood the appeal of Magnus Robot Hunter. He beats up robots. So what ? I said it. I was even more unimpressed with Marvel's Foolkiller in Amazing Spidey #225. He kills fools. Uh....yeah. The adult MAX line breathed some life and personality into him. Doesn't he realize fools are to pitied?

No matter the costume, Namor will never EVER be as cool as Aquaman. There. I said it. Did Aquaman tell you to say that? Nah, never mind. He probably told a dolphin to tell you to say that. With those little "telepathic smoke rings" that come out of his head. Because he's Aqua-badass. "Thank NEPTUNE, 'Captain Talks to Fish' will save us from the dastardly crew of the S.S. 'Minnow'! He's like the underwater world's E.F.Hutton: When he speaks, people and fish go, "Sorry, did you used to be somebody 40 years ago?" On the cool-ometer of people named 'Curry', Arthur was long ago eclipsed by Steph...although Arthur could probably beat LeBron, too. So could Topo, but I digress. It doesn't matter, though. Namor wasn't paying attention, he's too busy drop-kicking the Hulk across New York Harbor to notice Orange and Green Water Guy.

I don't have a problem with Aquaman as a character, but let's not get crazy: He has never been, and never will be, as great as Namor. As EVERETT'S Namor.
*edited*: And when I say I don't have a problem with him as a character, I mean, I don't have a problem with him existing. I haven't really read his stories. I don't need to. Namor works just fine for me.

That's right. I've read a few of the early Golden Age stories so I should have remembered that. I'll just finish by saying that, even as a heterosexual male, I like my Sub-Mariner as close to naked as possible. *ahem* I read soooo much Namor. So. Much. Namor. And even *I* couldn't exactly recall what color his trunks were in the golden age. And I just read that, what, last week? Yeah, last week. I like when his trunks look like short swim trunks, though. Not that speedo stuff. Speedos are just not really that attractive on anyone. In fact, I think that the skin-tight polyester bell bottom body suits men sometimes wore in the 70s looks better than speedos. And that's something. The problem I see is when certain artists draw Namor's trunks as bikini briefs. That's just not a good look.

There is no superhero... hell, there is no fictional character... hell, there is no real person EITHER that could not be improved by having an octopus side-kick.

Also, as the World's Leading Authority on Team-Up books, all 3,047,000 writers and artists on Super-Villain Team-Up did a good job with Subby. Now, now.. don't exaggerate, it was only like 2 million. Seriously, there was a new writer and new artist pretty much every issue. What was crazy to me is there were actually like 7 different EDITORS. Still, so far it holds together pretty well.

Maybe he's cool now in the nu52, but he never was before. ( Came close when He lost his hand). He was great when PAD wrote him in the 90's. That was easily Aquaman's worst era. Although I'm sure his new movie incarnation involving an actor that got his start on Baywatch: Hawaii will make a strong run at it. As for Namor, I've read him in FF, Invaders, the start of Defenders and one Golden Age reprint of his fight against the Human Torch. That's enough, I don't need to see any more.
