The digital system doesn't allow us to 'own' the comics we purchase either. We buy the right to read the comics on a specific website, and under no other circumstances. No downloads, and if something happens to your account or the website, then its goodbye comics forever. It's basically a fancy rental system. yes, indeed, and also, your digital comics go bye bye if the server hosting your comics suffers 'the hiccups'. not to mention the question of wanting to read 200 or more pages on a trans-oceanic plane-flight.

Sorta, although I can download every single one of my purchases (iOS) and at least half the companies allow DRM-free backups to PC as well.

I like reading the Marvel Library on digital, especially the new stuff. mrp is right, I'm tired of lugging around endless boxes of comics I might never read again. Also, It was a pleasure to get Batman 251 on comixology for 99 cents. But nothing can replace the feeling of having the physical copies of my favorite runs.

The comics I buy on Comixology are downloaded to my tablet, and I can read them any time I want. I don't pay money for a Comixology account, only for the comics I actually want to purchase. Marvel Unlimited is a different thing; your account has to be paid up in order to have continued access, but you go in knowing that.

I still purchase a lot of stuff in print, but I simply don't have the money or space to buy everything I want to read that way.

I buy and read comixology on PC and the only comics I am allowed to 'backup' (meaning download) are comics that are not from either Marvel or DC. Out of the hundreds of comics I have on comixology there are only 29 that give any option for downloading.

Even your most favorite comic will only get read once a year, meaning that 90% of comics are read only once. If you're not a collector , it's better to go the way of digital.

I can purchase and download directly through that, or I can purchase through Comixology on the web, and it will allow me to download those purchases on my tablet. It will even do the same with comic purchases I make through the Kindle store.

I can see going the digital route if I ever got really interested in following, for example, the general output of Marvel the way I used to in the mid 70s. And that certainly isn't impossible as a lot of the MU characters still have a hold over my imagination: all it would take would be for styles to change a bit - not really likely, but not impossible.
But right now my purchases from all publishers combimed are few enough that I don't mind getting the hard copies, though usually in trade form.

If you use the Comixology app itself to read, everything you buy through them is available to read regardless of where you purchased it(use your acc on your PC, laptop, phone and tablet, they all work), unless you have "archived" the book. It remains yours but doesnt show up in your library(until you unarchive it). Just goto your acc on your PC and you can access this. Of these its usually only the indy books which are also downloadable, i.e. as a .cbr or .cbz file to read through other apps like ComicRack. This is really just a personal preference thing, (which app do I like better?)and both means will take up lots of lovely space on your phone or tablet. I prefer the interface for ComicRack, or am probably just more used to it,but Comixology has a good panelbypanel way of reading which would be great for phones.

I think all artists benefit by having a separate writer working with them. Except for maybe Starlin, all artists/ writers have run out of ideas after a while and their work becomes weaker. And even Starlin has been critiqued for using the same theme over again. There are very few exceptions but I like Byrne better with another writer, Frank Miller with another writer. You get the gist.
There I said it.
