adamwarlock2099, my LCS has a copy of the two-part Ruins and they're mailing it out to me today and I should get it by Wednesday at the latest and go from there and I'll let you and the rest of the CCF World of my views on it. I pulled my issues out and plan to read them this weekend. I’ll post my thoughts too once you have so I don’t spoil anything. I don’t think I’ve rad it since I bought it so it’ll all be pretty fresh. I'll get the books on Wednesday and give me a couple of days and possibly post my thoughts sometimes next Saturday or so.

Nice book TM, and it also survived being thrown away by a mom.

Man, that's a great find of a book featuring Human Torch, Spider-Man, and the Green Goblin. Trans Mental.

I hate, scribbly, illegible-looking autographs on signed comics. Initials are lazy-arse too. There I said it
I despise that ... very much.

Spider-Man's black symbiote costume is even better than his classic red and blue one.
John Byrne's Superman is the definite Superman in any medium.
The core appeal of Batman has been lost over the years as he's become a muscle-bound master tactician in SWAT armour. The point of Batman is that he dresses as a bat to terrify criminals.

Big Muscles Batman made for an interesting look the first time I saw it in The Dark Knight. But Batman isn't about lifting the biggest dead weight possible. He needs to move more than to bench press, and all that muscle would make him lumbering and ponderous, not quick on his feet or a good fighter.

Can you call it a costume design when it is actually a living symbiotic creature? HMMMMMMMMMMMM. Make the 12 creepiest list for sure but the best dressed list? At least Red Wolf wears a dead wolf on his head and not a live one.

Was it Mike Zeck who designed the black costume? (I'm aware that it appeared before that issue of SW, so it may not have been.) Was it ever explained how a symbiotic organism came to be hiding out in a costume machine?

Spidey's black costume was ok...but I'm old school, don't mess with the original.
*hmphh*
There, I hmphh'd it.
To be pedantic, Spidey's original costume was black. Then the blue highlights became ever bigger until they stopped being highlights (same thing happened to Batman's costume earlier).

I don't think that's right: the costume is clearly meant to be red & dark blue in Amazing Fantasy #15. Look how the cop's dark blue uniform is also rendered with lots of black on it, yet it's clearly intended to be blue. Spidey's costume is even darker blue than that, by the looks of it -- and darker blue than Peter's suit too -- but it's definitely not meant to be black. Looks pretty blue to me on the front cover too...

I see a bit more blue in the cop's uniform than you do. Since it isn't skintight like Spidey's costume, there's really no way to accurately compare the two. As I mentioned previously, Batman's costume also was rendered with a fair amount of blue straight from the beginning. I don't think anyone's going to argue it was originally meant to be blue (or that he used a blue gun, for that matter). Finally, I'll note that except for a panel or two, the big spider emblem on Spidey's back is consistently coloured blue throughout Amazing Fantasy #15. Why would Peter place a blue emblem on a blue costume, and how could it stand out if he had?

Could the policeman's uniform be black? Did police once wear black? I feel like they did, but maybe that's just an impression I got from watching B&W films.
