I have noticed something so ridiculous lately on Facebook, people are slabbing books that are Graded at 1.0 and .05. Or people slabbing last month's books. Or things like Gemstone EC reprints.

I have noticed something so ridiculous lately on Facebook, people are slabbing books that are Graded at 1.0 and .05. Why bother, what can you finally sell it for ? There I said it and stop being a nut. Depends on the book. A 0.5 Action Comics #1 can bring a couple hundred thousand dollars. I've seen a slab of just 1 wrap from a key golden age book sell for a few hundred dollars. As in all things, one person's trash is another's treasure. It all depends on what someone is willing to spend on something. Obviously, you wouldn't be, but there are others that certainly are. -M

Somebody beat you to it... according to the CGC Census, there are 71 CGC graded copies of #1, ranging from 9.8-5.5 in grades. Now if you want a slabbed copy of #6, there are only 3 CGC graded copies 2x 9.8 and a 9.6. -M

By the way, here's a sample of a single page/wrap CGC of Action Comics #1, which will be up for sale at Lonestar's April Prime Auction. -M

Not that I would part with any money towards it, but I can see someone wanting to own a piece of history with Action #1 bit not having a cool million or so to drop on a complete copy, spending their dime on a page from it. Hey. it's their money and they can spend it however they want, whether I approve of it or not. -M

Now I’m curious what price it will fetch.

Now I’m curious what price it will fetch. So am I, so I put it on my watch list to follow it. Remind me in April, and I will let you know. -M

Looking at the sales data for Lonestar, CGC 0.1 copies of Action comics have sold before-I assume they are all page wraps, but it doesn't specify beyond CGC 0.1 so I can't be certain. Prices look to have ranged from $16K in Nov 2017 (that might have been more than 1 wrap or the splash page, but not a complete copy as coverless copies grade at 0.3) down to $400 (2 different copies at points in 2013). They also have 0.0 grade copies, but I am not sure what that would be if a wrap is 0.1.

Into the Spiderverse did that. Look at Hulk #271 after GOTG.

Into the Spiderverse did that I'm aware, but I still didn't expect that many people to care about Spider-Ham. Howard The Duck's first run never shot up value after his appearance in GOTG, but then again, Howard has never been a hot commodity

Howard was a small end credit cameo, People were looking at Rocket and Groot after GOTG. Peter Porker had a bigger role in Spiderverse.
