He's a cranky old man. It's a shame. But as I always say, I still have his brilliant works and they won't disappear if he continues to be an ass. He better wipe that sense of superiority before he flushes is career down the toilet. He has a doody to his fans. And apparently he thinks superheroes are Fatscits.

Hey folks, just a reminder to be civil to each other and public figures. It feels like things are getting a little heated in the thread.
We have rules about badmouthing or attacking others and that includes public figures. So, calling a professional comic creative mean names, while also posting insulting generalisations about anyone who may be a fan of that creative or might stick up for them is a big "no-no".
Thanks all.

Hoping I don’t overstep rules saying this but I feel like a lot of people that excel in their creative industry and have a huge fan base tend eventually think to highly of themselves and tend to voice that.
I was quite happy to read Kevin Conroy’s wiki page due to recent news. He cooked meals for days on end for emergency responders on 9/11 and was humbled and flattered by the amount of workers that knew he was and wanted hear voice lines as Batman.
Sometimes you become disheartened by people’s work when you hear about their actions and sometimes you are filled with joy. The amount of information available on the internet as oppose to times before the internet can be a double edged sword.

Alan Moore is certainly a favourite author of mine and I would likely rate him as the greatest comics writer of all time, but I don't consider myself a "fanboy" of his any more than I consider myself a fanboy of Lord Byron, Charles Dickens, or any other favourite writer (or musician, etc), living or dead. The work is one thing and the all-too-human person is another, closely related as they obviously must be.
That said, nothing I've heard, whether here in this thread or elsewhere, has induced me to lower my opinion of Moore as a person in any significant way. I really don't see what all the fuss is about, and by fuss, I mean comic book fans getting upset whenever Moore says something uncomplimentary about comic books. I could elaborate on the subject but I think if I say anything further it'll be too much.

So I was reading The Demon #5 when I came across this blurb in direct currents. Apparently Byrne was supposed to helm a Shazam! series?

Thank the comics gods Byrne never got his hands on the Shazam characters. I still shudder when I think about the grotesque dwarf he tried to pass off as Billy Batson in Legends.
Cei-U! I summon the vehement "Oh, HELL, no!"

Sometimes I see Prince Hal 's entries in the Classic Comic Cover Association Game and have no frikkin' clue what he's thinking. There! I said it!

I remember talk of it and was okay with the idea, though I didn't care for OMAC, nor the way his art seemed to be evolving. I think it could have been a good series, though, who knows? As it ended up, I think Ordway was the last person to really get the classic elements and still present some new and serious ideas, without ever losing the sense of fun. Billy Batson & the Magic of Shazam was pretty good; but, not quite at that caliber. Nothing else, for me, has been remotely worthy. Looking at things like Batman/Captain America, I think Byrne could have done a pretty fun series, though I'd want Terry Austin or Karl Kesel inking him, to soften up the art, a bit.

Whoever did the cover did a bang-up Harry Lucey impression on Betty, Veronica and Archie's faces. very nice!

I am somewhat amused at all of us struggling to rectify and make sense of the mind of a guy who worships a 3000 year old snake god that lives in his toilet. I am even more amused that this got posted on Page 666 of this thread.

This discussion makes me feel I am making the right decision in never meeting/reading about your heroes. As we are all imperfect humans. Man, you said it. I might have made this comment here before, but I was extremely disappointed and shocked to learn Orson Scott Card is extremely anti-LGBTQ+ to the point he's written extensively on the topic. Which is SHOCKING to me because I cannot fathom how the person who wrote Ender's Game and Speaker for the Dead could have such a profound understanding of empathy for the "other" group and yet do the same himself. It short-circuits my brain. Ignorance is bliss sometimes. My wife has say that MANY times.. I agree 100% OSC is a real mystery.
