It felt like he was channeling Heath Ledger's Joker, because this Lex acted more like a poor man's Joker than even scraping the surface of a true Lex. You know what? I didn't mention it, but it did look like he was trying to create a groundbreaking Lex Luthor, in a similar vein to Ledger's Joker, but missed by a mile. I'd like to watch the original version, before elaborating, though.

I find it perplexing that virtually nobody is talking about the actual Batman vs. Superman fight. This fight is fantastic, one of the best on-screen fights between heroes ever. So why is it so quickly forgotten? Because of the way it ended. The weak ending to the battle is so bad that it negates all of the awesome that preceded it. And that is very unfortunate, because they could have made something astounding if a few changes were made to the script here or there. Maybe more because, as fun as it was to watch, the entire time I was screaming inside my head "How long does it take to say "Luthor set us up! He kidnapped my mom and sent you all those notes!"...? I rather liked how it ended (I always liked that Clark and Bruces moms had the same name).

Deadline Hollywood box office update$200,000,000 in six days. Best March Monday and Tuesday ever with the second best Wednesday. Boxofficemojo reports that it is over a half billion worldwide as of yesterday as it tries to chase down Deadpool and Zootopia.

I won't be seeing this movie today due to family problems that I describe on my Godzilla thread in Community Discussion. Sorry everyone and I will be moving on to other things and won't be logging on for a while until Labor Day of 2017.

Superman vs. Batman is on pace to have a 70% drop off in box office (it's Friday to Friday dropoff was 81%), the larget dropoff ever for a marquee superhero movie at the box office. storyThis is what Warner was afraid of when those initial critical reviews were coming out pre-release and the suits started talking about how it's performance could jeopardize the future of the DC cinema slate-that it would do well the first week because well it's Superman and Batman, but then fall off the face of the earth because it was not well received and would not have good word of mouth or repeat customers. It will still be the #1 movie this weekend, but there were zero other major studio releases this weekend so it had no competition whatsoever. It is also seeing severe drop-offs in key foreign markets as well. Again, we'll see how this plays out, but it's not a good picture for DC's plans at WB if it doesn't rebound in week 3. -M

I finally saw it today and I didn't love it. It's like someone took a cool Batman movie and tried to cram a crappy Superman movie into the middle of it. Superman and Wonder Woman are too nuanced as characters for someone like Snyder to do them justice.

Paying off all those critics to trash the film really worked for Disney/ Marvel.

Superman saying "No one in this world stays good forever" might be the worst moment I've ever seen in a superhero movie.

Paying off all those critics to trash the film really worked for Disney/ Marvel. Nah. critics fall all over themselves to trash Zach Snyder films for free. Film critics react to Zach Snyder the way mos comic fans react to Rob Liefeld. -M

Had some free passes so I saw it a s cons time and took the wife to see it last night. think I liked it a tad less this time. Certainly found it more boring and its length was more obvious and uncomfortable. The scenes with lex were even more awkward and annoying. This batman was still cool to watch and made the movie. If Afleck / batman hadn't worked, and so well, this movie would be an absolute disaster beyond repair. WW still shined but not enough or used enough to have saved it if batman hadn't worked. All other complaints remain. My wife actually liked it to my surprise. She doesn't understand "what everyone is complaining about or why it's getting such bad reviews?". She Windered why WW had an accent and likes the marvel movies better... "The people who do the marvel movies do a better job". And "I like how they have little bits of humor and are just funnier".

I thought the music was great, so I guess I didn't hate everything about the movie.

Saw it yesterday and there's one thing I'm surprised that hasn't been addressed...
S P O I L E R S
was that Jimmy Olsen getting his brains blown out at the start of the film? It seemed like it might have been, but no one seemed too bothered at the Planet. I haven't seen Man of Steel so I don't know if he was even in that, but the fact that he was killed attempting to save Lois and then simply forgotten about was pretty shocking. I know this Superman is supposed to be something of a failure but, I don't know, failing to save Jimmy? Was that supposed to be an easter egg or something?
