What a great topic and some great entries! How about an unlikely combo of Man-Thing vs. Pirates?

I almost picked this same cover I love the Man-Thing. Steve Gerber was a tough act to follow, and after the stutter-step of the Fleisher issues, I though Claremont acquitted himself as admirably as one could under those circumstances. Volume 2 has a good deal to offer the thirsty fan of the muck-monster!

This cover looks like a homage , but I just can't place it. The famous ad: "My Metamucil Ain't Working!" First post here, so hopefully I don't muck this up. It reminds me a lot of Action Comics #539 (Jan '83), although it was almost 2 years after the Legion cover.
