I'm really not feeling the love for this - I've found the 2 series pretty uninspiring so far, though the whole "8 months later" thing, which I'm already finding pretty tedious, is not helping. It was barely mentioned here.. Tony makes a reference to being in Space for a while (During which time somehow Pepper screwed up Resilient and caused him to not have any cash... only assets). That made it feel like this was taking place before some of the other books (no idea if that's true or not.

It's not particularly explicit, but the fact of the changed circumstances, the "we're not the Avengers" lines etc.

Are the Chitauri of the regular Marvel Universe the same as in the Ultimate one (that is, Skrulls)?

It's not particularly explicit, but the fact of the changed circumstances, the "we're not the Avengers" lines etc. Well, when last we saw these guys, Tony was evil, so he wasn't an Avenger. Sam's team is the Ultimates now (without him). The team with Steve Rogers in Uncanny Avengers is call the 'Unity Squad', not the Avengers. I think Sunspot's team is AIM (Avengers Idea Mechanics, I guess?), so they're not wrong... I think he's just saying no one's stepped up since then. The fact that it was also a brilliant meta commentary on the Hickman debacle is what makes it so awesome, IMO. I haven't seen the CHitauri too much (they've been in Nova some, I know, and the SHIELD Book), but they're not Skrulls... they more like the guys from the Movie. Honestly, they remind me of the Badoon (who were really just Klingons) more than anything.

The only exposure that I have of Mark Waid was JLA, Brave and Bold, Infinity Inc, Wonder Woman, and DC Elseworlds for DC Comics. For Marvel Comics it was his Daredevil, The Indestructible Hulk with artist Leinil Francis Yu was my only exposure in that company. My favorite book that he done was Green Hornet for Dynamite Comics and I'm a fan of his work in that series. I just fell in love with this book ... Waid wrote Infinity Inc.?

No, I think he might have edited Infinity Inc. near the end though.

Those were the writers for 52, where Lex gave people powers (including the people who would become the new Infinity Inc. but I don't remember them writing much with those characters (except Steel and Natasha and Everyman): Peter Milligan wrote the actual series.

I love Waid's knowledge of, and passion for, comicdom. He's one of the best fans out there.
But I've never read anything of his that I loved.

I definitely can say I loved Kingdom Come, but of course I'm a sucker for alternate futures anyway Waid's Wally West is among the best developed characters in comics, IMO. It's been a while, but I remember really liking his Cap run, too. Then there's the recent Daredevil run... hokey at times, but overall very good. Honestly, I'm sure Kurt Busiek probably could have done just as well... I was just so excited to have a Marvel book that actually FELT like a Marvel book again!

Kurt however has said on numerous occasions now that he has no interest in doing work for hire any more, so I doubt you will see him on a non-Vertigo book from DC or any book form Marvel any time in the near (or distant future). -M

Yeah, I read that, too. I suspect he might change his mind if someone, let's say 'classically oriented' took over at one of the big 2. The way things are right now, though, Marvel and DC have essentially become a stepping stone to get a deal to do your own thing and have a chance to create the next Walking Dead. It'll be interesting to see how long that lasts.
