Where are your pictures, people?!?!?! I want to see these things! The comics below have a personality too. They were mailed upon production around 50 years ago. IIRC, they were lost in the post, subsequently found, and delivered...some 45 years later? Personally, I don't collect books which were once folded in half, but lots of others don't mind them. But this WAS the method of distribution back then. For those of you who may have gotten your books this way, how did you feel when you got your first copy in the mail....like that?

These are from The World of Jughead #202. Which, btw, was my very first Archie Series read, ever. They're not penises, but I still find it funny. I love the "Joe Dirt" looking 'do. hahaha

As promised, shaxper's Gallery of Drawn-On Silver Age Penises: Exhibit #1: Fantastic Four #64 Now, if you're gonna draw on a penis, this is the cover to do it on. Am I perpetuating rape culture to proclaim that Kirby was "asking for it" with a cover like this one? But the artist's genius surpasses simply selecting the right canvas. The true genius lies in the multiple layers of his or her work. On first glace, we assume that we are looking at some aspect of male genitalia (and really, it could be one of two things there), but then there's the Sentinel's drawn in comment ("Sore butt") as well as the nipples and areola drawn onto his back. Really, that thing could be any number of...well..."things".

Brilliant work. It's a damn shame the identity of the next Michelangelo will forever remain anonymous.

Exhibit #2: Batman coloring book I found this beauty at an odds and ends shop in a mall a few years back. I was positively thrilled by the art and nostalgia and overly eagerly asked the shopkeeper "how much?" He very sheepishly replied by explaining that there were some objectionable things drawn onto the pages. I insisted I still wanted it, so he gave it to me for a dollar. Really though. There are penises on like every damn page of this thing. It begins so innocently. What's that stray mark on Robin's thigh? Oh, probably nothing. But then this page comes next. Come on, dude. You're not even trying now. Blockbuster might want to consult a doctor. Really not clear what's going on, here. Batman just took "coming out" to the next level. A cyst? Batman needn't be concerned by his lack of penis. Robin's got two! Those be some messed up hormone pills. Batman's good idea clearly involves rouge. The About the Author page. The sad part is that she was actually a really good artist when she wasn't drawing enormous limp penises.

I'm dying. Your narrative was just about as spot-on as the pictures.
Keep that thing FOREVER.

The About the Author page. The sad part is that she was actually a really good artist when she wasn't drawing enormous limp penises. On the contrary, there is nothing sad about this celebration of the robust and vigorous Batman cast. Also, by repeating the name Dana rapidly, you can approximate the Batman '66 theme to a considerable degree.

That defaced JLA cover just makes me depressed.

That defaced JLA cover just makes me depressed. Not a JLA fan, particularly of that era, but I agree just on principle. Could it be that the "very lame" comment (or should I just say the very lame comment) was marked on the protective plastic CGC case, or whatever it is, rather than the actual comic cover itself? I hope so.

I no longer have them, but I had a number of DC Comics (among them I believe the First Issue Special issue with the Return of the New Gods) where whoever had owned them to a razor blade and cut out all the pages that had ads or letters pages, etc. so that all that was left was the story pages. I had 6-7 DC books like that, and the amazing thing was they were bought in 3 different states (CT, Massachusetts, and Ohio), so unless the owner moved around a lot, there were multiple people doing this.
When I was helping out at the comic shops we would find lots of things inside comics hidden by people when we bought collections-naked Polaroids of (we assume former) girl-friends, rolling papers, condoms, or anything else someone wanted to hide from friends or family.
We also had one come in where some of the issues they sold in the collection were cut out of Fireside Books (Origins of Marvel Comics, Son of Origins, etc.) with scissors/razor blades, and then stapled together with color photocopies of the front cover attached on top, all bagged & boarded with photocopies of the Overstreet & Wzard pages from the late 90s showing values for the books highlighted (in yellow). Not sure if someone was trying to scam someone else with them during the speculation era.
Sorry Coldwater, no pics.

So... I have like 40,000 comic books. Acquired from a variety of sources. In varying conditions. And some with holes cut out of pages, writings or drawings on them...
But not a single one with an added penis.
So I suspect there is something more than mere chance at work in shaxper's collection.

So I suspect there is something more than mere chance at work in shaxper's collection. How do I explain this delicately? Male Silver Age Comics have drawn on penises. Female Silver Age Comics do not...
