One of my endless twatting about in new (to me) bits of Photoshop trying to make a passable Ben Day effect. This time I used a page of nonsense from one of my sketchbooks to work on. No colour scheme in mind just moving from panel to panel trying things out and wondering what I did last time that worked and why didn't it work this time.... Just to make things more fun for myself I decided to 'age' the strip. Took me ages to work out the (stupidly simple as it turned out) method to get dirty old paper effect into all the crisp white word balloons and frame. Very frustrating. The gag made me laugh when I drew it but has been met with baffled blank expressions by my usual motley crew of "Is this Funny?" beta readers.

Another true story from JunkMonkey Mansions: Another colouring experiment - this time using my usual limited 64 Comic Book colour pallet in 50% opacity, multiply layers over original uncleaned, raw scanned pencils.
EDIT: I need to rearrange the word bubbles in panel 1. The 'mmm?' should be further to the right. As it is, it reads before my my son's 'Dad!' bubble. Which am wrong.

Looks better than ever! Thank you. Lettering is such a bugger. A much under appreciated skill - no, that's a wild generalization. Let's say I underappreciated it until I started doing it - and finding out how tricky it can be.
I guess like most things you don't appreciate how hard work something is until you try and do it yourself.

I understand that and I wished I could do the things that you can do in your spare time. Your lettering style is excellent and much better than the stuff that I seen these days ...

I've been drawing Betty on and off for three years now. I've only just discovered why her uniform is different from the rest of the crew's. Another Ben Day experiment. You wouldn't believe the hoops I had to jump through to get the Cyan and Magenta out of register without taking the Cyan and Magenta copies of all the black with them - which would have looked totally unauthentic and crap. Still not happy that I got it all but as it is now 3 am and I'm having trouble remembering which planet I'm on, it's time to quit.
EDIT: ARGH! As soon as I posted, I realised I haven't added paper texture to the word balloons! Tomorrow....

Thank you. Somehow i think an outdated snack wouldn't really stop Elvis in the least little bit. Take that box of staleness and fry it up with peanut butter and banana's in a sandwich and the great Elvi would chow it down in a flash!!! Besides, I am one of the believers that Elvis is still out there somewhere (preserved form all his junk foods eaten) in America. He and roaches will survive the atomic holocaust to come...

Daughter Number 2 is currently colouring my latest strip. 2 pages 16 panels. So while she's endlessly fiddling with the ProMarkers and clogging up my drawing table and lightbox I'm dragging a few quickies out of old sketchbooks:
