The Galactus thing is a big change, but after 60 years of the same old same old, it's at least a new twist.

I'm also kind of baffled as to why Sam Wilson is still Captain America, not that I have an issue with him in the role. Though I haven't been keeping up with it on a consistent basis, I was under the impression that Steve had somehow regained his Super Solider powers prior to Secret Wars As of Captain America: Sam Wilson #1, Steve was still an old man. I don't expect that to continue long-term, but for now, he doesn't have the physical capabilities to serve as Captain America.

I've enjoyed the hell out of the Sam Wilson book. His transition into being Cap got off to such a disjointed start that I'm glad there's finally some direction to the character. Having him firmly take sides politically gives him something that immediately sets him apart from Steve or Bucky. I've always enjoyed "fun" superheroes, do the humor sits right with me. So far, I'd say it's one of my top ANAD Marvel books.

Have been pleasantly surprised with just how much fun both Weirdworld and Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur are. So of course both will last 6 issues... They show that at least Marvel (and DC with Bizarro etc) are willing to try something outside the Avengers template. Said Avengers template has shot its bolt for me, not enjoying any of the new reboots Weirdworld did strike me as VERY similar to Scotty Young's amazing I Hate Fairyland, another plain fun book (though its that dreaded Image word).

I'm not feeling any of the core Avengers books either, in fact I've already dropped Uncanny and All New is in the last chance saloon next week. The one that I thought would be the weakest (based on the Mighty Avengers predecessor, which I really didn't like), was Ultimates, and that's the only one I've really enjoyed.
Agree on both Weirdworld, and to some extent Moon Girl. Didn't really expect to like either, and WW has been great and MG&DD has been surprisingly good as well.

Current tally of the post Secret Wars titles I'm getting/will be getting.
I'm enjoying Dr. Strange a lot and expect that this will run for a while.
Hercules, Illuminati and MoonGirl/DD are fun, but good chance that they won't survive for long as they deal with minor characters.
Captain Marvel and Moon Knight are on my preorder list based on creative teams.
Karnak, Ant-Man and Darth Vader in trades.

How late is Karnak exactly? Still only one issue an dthe next one not scheduled for at least two weeks... First issue was a real let down BTW, sub par artwork when you consider the artists online showcased work...

First issue was a real let down BTW, sub par artwork when you consider the artists online showcased work... It depends if you are judging its lateness based on regular comic books or on Warren Ellis comic books. For a regular book, issue #2 would be about 2-3 months late, but for an Ellis book, it's right about on schedule.

Maybe so, but in that case, I'm pretty sure it's due to the artist being a complete newbie regarding monthly schedules and realizing his art looks like shit under that kind of schedule...

Did Karnak fall victim to Ellis' mysterious cardiac event-where his bp shot up and they thought he was having a stroke and he was out of commission for 3 weeks but the docs never were able to nail down a cause? I know it caused a delay on some of his books as he was hospitalized and then recovering and not able to work for a good 2-3 weeks. I thought Karnak was not one of he books affected, but it could have been.

Considering how little happens in it, I doubt Marvel gave the OK without anything else. And as they seem to like to release the first 5 issues of new titles within 3 months, I really think that the artist is the "?" of the equation. He's the son of one of the best comic book artist in my opinion, the late Jorge Zaffino, and he's trying to emulate the unique style of his dad. But when covers and pin ups can do the trick, this first issue of sequential art so far shows he's not up to the task... :/

Is the new Weirdworld the same Weirdworld as in the Secret Wars mini? I was excited for that to be good, but it totally fell flat for me.. it was just too random. I mean, I usually like random silver age wackiness.. but random seriousness with only a small bit of humor didn't work for me.
Moon Girl looked too much like trying to re-capture the magic of Ms. Marvel to me, so I skipped it... I like Devil Dinosaur though... is the art good? I could be tempted to try the trade.

Weirdworld is a similar set-up to the SW one, but it feels completely different - mostly new characters, not so much of the random versions of existing characters.

Huh. I really liked Mighty Avengers - which made it the first 616 Avengers book I've really liked in 30 years. Ultimates is the same creative team?
