John Buscema excelled at those "clash" covers. Here's another one he did in 1968, just a few months prior to his Avengers King-Size Special/Annual #2 cover.  Big John sure loved him some JLA! I guess so did Kirby, LOL! (Also 1968.) I wonder if Stan Lee requested this layout -- I highly doubt Kirby or Buscema were reading what DC was putting out at the time.  |

I always liked the cover to that little book, had no idea Gray Morrow "borrowed" it from Virgil Finley.  And from the cover association thread, Gil Kane homages himself.   |
