The caveat-they are rumored to be looking to develop the spin-off. No official word yet and several times rumored tv shows don't pan out. I don't think you will get an official word from either Marvel or Netflix until the episodes air and they gauge reaction and ratings (it took them until yesterday to release any statement on ratings on Jessica Jones which they said drew 4.8 million viewers over a 5 week span. I'm sure whoever leaked the story knew of a "if this works we could develop a show out of it" type conversation, but that's likely all it is at this point. I think reaction will be good enough for them to possibly try this, but nothing is set yet, and thousands of ideas for shows get discussed with only a fraction ever getting made, so celebration might be a bit premature.

I just watched all of Daredevil and Jessica Jones this month, both were incredible, especially Alias. I'm not a huge Punisher fan, but definetly in for trying anything Netflix attempts in that universe.

Bernthal must really be awesome as Frank for this to be all but a done deal.
His Punisher has to be the most anticipated upcoming (anti)hero aside from that Tom Holland kids Spider-Man.

Of all Marvel's street-level heroes, the Punisher's morally dubious modus operandi has the most potential for exploration, particularly given the quality of writing and directing we've seen in Daredevil and Jessica Jones.

The official response from Netflix-They are open to any character in the Marvel stable including spin-offs, but there is no Punisher series in development or plans currently to put one in development.
Jeph Loeb would neither confirm or deny anything, but said he would never say no to pushing Marvel characters if someone was interested and it's his job to get them out there, but his focus in on getting the already contracted shows done and done well for them to keep going.
So in the end, the rumors were just rumors. It did how there is some interest, so something could happen down the road, but you won't see that Punisher series anytime soon because there is no Punisher show currently in development.

I hope it's true. I would love to see a Punisher Netflix series. Also glad the Jessica Jones has been picked up for another season. I want to see Trish as Hellcat and assist Jessica! Looking forward to Daredevil season 2!

Personally,I think Punisher Series will be more better and badass than Daredevil and Jessica Jones. Cannot wait to see Frank Castle in Full-On Punisher mode.

I was quite let down by both Daredevil and the second half of Jessica Jones. That being said, even if I'm no completly sold on that incarnation of the Punisher (Bernthal isnt really consitant in his portrayal and is just an average/good actor IMHO - that being said, the comic books nevere really had a consistant characterization of the Punisher...) a series on him could be interesting, especially if he is handled like Rorschach. I also want Micro and conspiracies.

I'm no completly sold on that incarnation of the Punisher (Bernthal isnt really consitant in his portrayal and is just an average/good actor IMHO Yes. I thought I was the only person to think this. Yes from episode to episode he seemed oddly different. Sometimes competent, the next scene "simple" and or confused. I also personally didn't consider him very intimidating physically. When watching the punisher, I should never think he's brain damaged (diminished/simple/unaware), or that I could possibly beat him in a fight. I never felt that way about any previous on screen incarnation. I like barenthal fine, but don't think his acting abilities stretch far beyond average.

I also want Micro and conspiracies. Bernthal said in a recent interview that the Frank Castle portrayed in Season 2 of Daredevil is still extremely raw and emotional following the very recent deaths of his family. He doesn't even really care about the welfare of NYC at that point. He just wants to slaughter his families killers as brutally as possible. I think you see the turning point towards the end of Season 2. Frank Castle is "dead" and the Punisher is officially born. Pretty sure we'll see a more classic "all business" portrayal from Bernthal in the future.

The thing is that he still colaborated with the police conspiracy to get him to work for the Kingpin's interests, and that rather cold-bloodily... I don't know, it just didn't work very well in my opinion. I liked that part most though, the end of the trial and his time in prison, everything before and his weird collab with Daredevil were just mostly awkward IMHO. But to be honest, I just thought the las act of the season was a complete mess with sketchy plot, Stick suddenly at the helm of a powerfull organisation as well, most action scenes feeling rather cheap (nnjas running through stairs, really?!), and Karen Page constant sobbing/talking becoming unbearably ridiculous.
