I haven't seen Steel or Superman 4 but I did see Batman & Robin, which was horrible except for Alicia Silverstone Someday I'll see Superman 4. I'm not even a little embarrassed to say that I love Superman 4.

And best of all it wasn't Superman 3.

So there's a novelization, which is a surprise. Batman v Superman didn't get one, but Suicide Squad does? It's written by Marv Wolfman, and opens with an extended version of the origin of June Moone/Enchantress. So maybe some of those cut scenes found their way into the book.

Looks like a 79% drop in box office from first weekend to second weekend for the movie; so looking like another DC movie that won't have legs to keep making money after opening weekend, a trend that certainly troubles the decision makers at WB who greenlight these films.

I'll just leave this here as food for thought why the Suicide Squad might not be so well received...

Good analysis from that video. I have now seen the film. albeit only via a really crappy CAM download, which will have to do me until the DVD comes out - so I may well be missing some of the majesty and some nuance, but from what I saw, I thought the film was terrible - the plot made no sense, the dialogue was awful, the pacing was appalling, the soundtrack was like having some kid in the next room playing his music collection really loud while you were trying to watch the film - it might have worked in the trailers, but it didn't mesh with the film at all - it was really jarring and took me out of the film completely.
All in all, the film was (a lot) worse than the trailers, and I wasn't that impressed with the trailers. May actually be worse than Bats v Superman, which is going some. The bit in that critique video where they point out that the Suicide Squad provide absolutely nothing that couldn't be provided by the soldiers guarding them really nails one of the huge plot holes - they have no useful powers, they are a complete liability and they just provide a distraction and hindrance to the soldiers. Well, of course, if Superman flies into the White House, they could be sent in to... what? Shoot him with bullets? Hit him with a bat? Bite his hand? Utterly stupid film.

Connor wanted to see it so I took him to a matinee today. Well...that was time out of my life. There were actually a couple of marginally intersting things happening. But the plot, such as it was, was an absolute mess. Waller was ridiculous. Flagg was also pretty ridiculous. Will Smith played Will Smith. Actually...about all that really was worth a damn was Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn.
