Well, I can tell you that, the movie IS bad. Better than Batman v Superman - which just made me angry.
But in Suicide Squad nothing really works.
The team? It is supposed to stop stuff like Superman gone bad... but... well, there's a girl with a baseball bat and a man who throws boomerangs. This can kinda work in the comics, but not in a "realistic" movie. Or at least, you have to play to the STRENGTHS of the characters. E.g. make Harley do SMART things that help the team. But no, does not happen.
I liked Harley.
Heck, I even liked Leto's Joker.
But everything else... meh.
Even Deadshot... Will Smith is just Will Smith to me at this point, it's true that you should not cast famous movie stars in such roles.
That said, I'd actually like to see the movie again...
I dunno.

There's an Extended Cut DVD of Suicide Squad being trailed on TV over here - assuming anyone can be bothered, have any of seen it or heard anything about it? For example, does the plot make any sense?

I think maybe I pre-ordered it, so I'll report back when I get a chance to watch it. I'm not sure I want more scenes, though. I thought Leto was the worst part of the movie, so adding more of him isn't exactly appealing. As for the movie itself, I loved it. Sure, it's no cinematic masterpiece, but I thought it accomplished what it set out to do (style over substance, for sure) and sometimes you just wanna watch a big dumb action movie.

Just watched SS last night. I liked that the JLA actors were used in flashback scenes. The enchantress came off very campy and badly acted in the final scenes. I give the movie a 4 out of 10. Hated the Joker. He doesn't play well against really super powered people.

I finally watched it a few weeks ago for free on blue ray from the library.
If you took all the good parts of the movie, you would have had a really good old school extended cut narrative music video that ran about 8-10 minutes with all the glitz and slam bang action the movie did well and with the soundtrack. Trying to make what they had into a 2 hour feature however did not work well at all. It wasn't all terrible, but it certainly wasn't a good movie. Most of the acting performances were questionable-either ham-fisted over the top or completely flat and mailed in whenever they had to deliver dialogue, and the direction on anything that wasn't set to music or featuring things blowing up was not good at all.

The characters caring for each other by the end was totally unbelievable. They're all scum.
