I've never gotten music videos or concerts. You get to go scream your lungs out, party with friends or your sig other, maybe meet the artist. I felt like a million bucks when Nick Rhodes (from Duran Duran) walked up to me and 2 friends and chatted with us like we were family. We tried not to notice we were taller than him.

The super friends ! The real marvel of this picture is that, even dressed like that, Agnetha Fältskog still looks hot. Well, my heart belongs to Frida. Redheads are hawt!

I take that back. I've been to one concert. I bought two tickets for my wife and a friend to see Avenged Sevenfold. But she wanted me to go with her so I did. Not my type of music but it I did enjoy it since it was time with her. So I guess I can get the social aspect of it. There's just other places I'd rather go for social interaction. But to each their own.

You weren't a teen in the early '80s, then! Well, I turned 13 in 1985, but I was buying records with my pocket money from 1979 onwards, when I was 7. So I do remember ABBA at the time. I didn't like them back then either. I tried real hard to dislike them, because back then I was a classic music snob. But those tunes sure were catchy!

ABBA scored a lot of points with me when they had Roxy Music and Kate Bush as special guests on their tv special in the late 70s.
But I like their music a lot. Yes, it can grate at times or with over-exposure, but there's a very high level of craftsmanship being put to work there. I believe Elvis Costello, a connoisseur of the art of song-writing, was an admirer and said the piano in Oliver's Army (I think?) was inspired by Dancing Queen.
I think both ABBA and Queen were well aware of their own campiness. John Lydon's famous put-down - "Are you that Freddy Platinum who's trying to bring ballet to the masses?" - was off the mark, IMO, if he thought that was what they were really all about. There's a video of ABBA performing Dancing Queen while dressed up in 18th-century French Ancien Régime costume that captures perfectly the sense of fun and frivolity I associate with them - which has of course its negative side as well.

I didn't go many concerts in my lifetime, but I did see a Beach (Twice) Boys, Chicago, Moody Blues, and Bachman Turner Overdrive and my personal favorite Creedence Clearwater Revival of which I saw them three times.
Eight Concerts in All from 1968 to 1998.
Down On the Corner - Creedence Clearwater Revival
Change the year from 1978 to 1968 to account for the Beach Boys.

Creedence Clearwater Revival without John Fogerty is bogus To be honest, I had no idea that CCR continued to exist after Fogerty left in 1973.

Yeah, a few times they would tour, using that name and John Fogerty would sue them. In fact, they call themselves Creedence Clearwater Revisited- that should be enough of a red flag

I was really lucky. I lived about 20 minutes (by car) from the old Phila Spectrum. My friends & I saw many concerts there. My favorite concert was Yes.

The circus is never coming to town again, the greatest show on Earth has it's final curtain call this may and it saddens me. i used to love the circus growing up and I looked forward to taking my own kids when I had them but it doesn't look like I will. Sure there are other circuses than Barnem and Bailey's and the smaller ones do have their charm, but there was something special about that three ring spectacular.

Sure there are other circuses than Barnem and Bailey's and the smaller ones do have their charm, but there was something special about that three ring spectacular. I went to a couple of them during the 70's and once in the 80's in New York City and I'm sad to see this tradition goes. My fond memories in the 70's is when my whole family saw the Circus Parade in Los Angeles and later on see the Circus itself was a treat for all of us and it was great family entertainment. Now, after 146 years ... it's gone and that makes me sad for future generations not being able to see.
