I'm reading 90s Clone Saga in the new Complete Collections and for some reason after the "prologue", which is basically the clone's backstory, there is a page recapping it but it doesn't match up with what you just read.
That said, it's not bad so far.

After finishing up all the 50s material I owned, I have moved into the Sixties, having read everything I won from 1960 and 1961 so far, lots of DC including Flash, GL, Adam Strange, Aquaman, a little Wonder Woman, a little Superman and some JLA, and again the Flash stuff was head and shoulders above the rest, the GL stuff slightly better than the norm and most of the rest of it formulaic and repetitive. It probably was fun reading it once a month, but in chunks it becomes a slop.
Also reading through some 80s series I have completed in recent years bit not read yet, Ms. Tree (into the Aardvark Vanaheim years now) and Jonny Quest from Comico (about half way through that). Both have been highly enjoyable so far.

As someone who started reading Spider-man monthly at this point I have very good memories of this even if most of it was quite frankly terrible. There are some highlights but darn it there are some extreme low points to. I never read the mid-90's Spidey-Clone Saga... as someone who did read it - knowing that I was a Spider-Man fan - told me it would spoil my enjoyment of Spidey, and it was "f***ing awful". So I heeded their advice. There was also too many Spider-Man titles to keep up with at that time, amogst other things in life. So I never got around to reading it. However, I have never felt that I missed out on anything by not reading them! I do think there are things there to enjoy but some of it is bad yes. Personally I liked Ben Reilly a lot, especially his costume. The whole idea of sending Peter of as a married man with a kid on the way working in a lab and letting Ben be Spidey is still something I think could have worked and I would have enjoyed.

I'm reading Spider-Man #54, with that great sequence where Doctor Octopus rents a room from Aunt May. I've read it before because I used to have the issue of Marvel Tales that reprinted it. But it's been a long time, close to 35 years, I bet. I'd forgotten how hilarious it is. Gwen and MJ sniping at each other at the Coffee Bean. And then Peter walks in on Doctor Octopus and Aunt May having tea! Aunt May is like "this is the nice new boarder, perhaps you remember him, Doctor Octopus" and Doc Ock is all smiles, making chitchat. Also the first appearance of Joe "Robbie" Robertson! This was a great run! The only time Spider-Man was better was the Ditko years.

Totally agree with everything you're saying except that, for me, the Romita era is every bit as good as the Ditko era. I can never choose between one or the other -- they're both fantastic.

For myself it goes Romita era, then Ross Andru era and then Ditko because that was the way i was 1st exposed the wall-crawler. I came on at the tail end of Kane/Romita and only saw a reprinted Ditko story here or there until finding the Marvel Tales reprints in high school.

I don't know if it was you I was talking to, but I was singing the praises of Andru's work on ASM the other day and saying how underrated his run is. I mean, it's not quite up to Ditko or Romita standards, but it is very good and I feel that Andru is often overlooked.

My first brand-new issue of Spider-Man just off the spinner rack was #152. So in a way, visually, Andru's Spider-Man is my Spider-Man. But I fell in love with Ditko's work very early on, when I picked up the over-sized Marvel Special Edition #1, with reprints of the first Spidey Annual, Spider-Man #6 and Spider-Man #35.

I have no idea how many times I've read it. I read Catwoman's first story the most. I'm thinking of adding The Brave and the Bold #78 to the pile because I read that all the time too.

Interesting how that works. I considered Don Heck as my favorite Avengers artist for many years. I guess you never forget " your first".

While I don't like the current incarnation of the Suicide Squad I realized I never read the original run. I only ever knew of them from the Legends mini-series. So I just picked up volumes 1-3 of the Ostrander McDonnell run Hoping I like it.

I finished up the first trade paperback of Mike Grell's Green Arrow run.
I've been dying to read it for years and really liked it.
