Jae Lee is one of the very best contemporary superhero comics artists. I only wish he worked on more things that I wanted to read. However, I have the back issues of the Inhumans series he drew a few years ago and I will likely try the Avengers he did with Hickman recently. Hickman was pretty lucky in the artists he was assigned on that series - Lee, Opena, Leinil Yu, .... I think he'd be one of the artists I might choose for a New Gods series - his style seems like it could be a good fit for dark, Apokoliptan settings and characters. And of course any kind of supernatural series - a ToD revival or The Demon, perhaps. He did draw a Hulk/Thing mini written by Bruce Jones. It was quite good IIRC. I'm going to hope these are all on Marvel unlimited because I need them badly. On a related note I also liked his art on Batman/Superman and the new take on Bruce and Clark's first meeting was certainly interesting.

He also did a Batman Jeckyll & Hyde with Jones and Sean Phillips you should enjoy. And of course, his Before Watchmen mini is some of the most beautiful comics ever.

Yeah, I bought that.
Alternating covers had either Thing or Hulk's head getting punched.

I've been re-reading "Death of the Family," the lengthy storyline that ran through a bunch of the Batman-related books in 2012 and 2013. The Joker took back his cut-off face from the Gotham City Police and started an unwieldy scheme to make Batman more efficient by forcing him to get rid of his allies, i.e. Batgirl and various Robins and former Robins.
It ran through A LOT of the New 52 titles and I didn't buy all of them when it was going on, but I did get the key Batman issues and I was collecting Detective Comics, Batgirl and Catwoman, so I have all those "Death of the Family" issues.
The Catwoman issues are pretty weak.
I love the Batgirl issues! They brought in James Gordon Jr.! The creepy little psycho! Even the Joker should be scared of James Jr.
I've only re-read a few of the Batman issues so far, and they're OK. Face-Cut-Off Joker talks too much though. Words. Words. WORDS!
Except for the Batgirl issues, there is not nearly enough story to justify the length of the storyline. (And I'm glad it only ran through two issues of Detective Comics, which mostly dealt with what the Penguin was doing while the Joker (and the Joker-influenced crazies) were terrorizing Gotham.

Im 35 years old and Im one of those cranky curmudgeons lol. I still prefer the 1980s Uncanny X Men of Wolverine, Rogue, Nightcrawler, Storm, Dazzler and plain old British Psylocke aka Betsy Braddock along with Power Pack, Alpha Flight, Groo, What The, NOW COmics, and the Marvel Comics Elfquest.
Just recently earlier today I got the brand new Elfquest Final Quest trade paperback Volume 1 in the mail today. Its been a long long time since Ive read Elfquest since the Pinis made Elfquest for Marvel Comics for a short time.
The only elves I still remember are Skywise and Cutter. the good old days

Marvel gave them wider distribution, but they weren't made for Marvel, they already existed before Marvel got involved, and because it was the Epic line of Marvel, Marvel didn't have any ownership of it at all, in effect Marvel was working for the Pinis, not the other way around. -M

I finished Death of the Family a few days ago. I like the Batgirl segments. But overall, Death of the Family is not good. It's actually fairly terrible.
Not as terrible as The Widening Gyre, I hasten to add. As a matter of fact, remembering Widening Gyre, I hesitate to call Death in the Family terrible.
But it's not good. I'd rank it somewhere between Widening Gyre and Identity Crisis.

About Marvel and Elfquest.
Technically who cares really. The Pinis they still made Elfquest fir Marvel back then. I don't care if they were "reprinted" or whatever. I grew up with that Elfquest back then.

It's not realy about caring or not about that, MRP was just stating a fact that is valuable info since the Pinis were champions of the 80ies indie wave.

I just read this: Wonder Woman #28 from 2009. The Faces of Evil cross-over. Also The Rise of the Olympians cross-over. I'm finally, after all these years, starting to like the Barbara Minerva version of the Cheetah. Oh, she's no Debbie Domaine and she's certainly no Priscilla Rich. But she's all we got. I'm not sure which version of Barbara Minerva I like best, but then I'm not sure how many Barbara Minervas there are at this point. She seems to be a different character each time I see her. (I just read Wonder Woman (2011 series) #23.1 recently.) I really love the Gail Simone Wonder Woman! My favorite thing so far is the white gorilla bodyguards! They are hilarious, and they make no sense! It's just like something that William Moulton would come up with. I haven't read much of Gail Simone's Wonder Woman, but it looks to me like she gets our favorite Amazon! I'll have to see if the library has more of the TPBs for this era.

I grew up with that Elfquest back then. Period MRP was just being 100% correct.. the Elfquest series that you read from Marvel (the 32 issue run under Epic) was originally Elfquest vol. 1 by WaRP Graphics (the Pini's originally publishing house). The Marvel books were colored and re-sized from the black and white magazine originals. FYI, there are quite a few series in between that and the current Dark Horse-published 'final quest' I would suggest 'Siege at Blue Mountain' and 'Kings of the Broken Wheel' (I think each was 9 issues) would really help you to figure out what was going on in the new ones... you can, of course, find them at your favorite back issue internet source, via trades, or (IIRC) for free digitally at the official Elfquest site (assuming they still have everything up for free).

White Gorilla Bodyguards? That's like 6 different kinds of awesome! I know, right? It sounds like something from the Golden Age. I can easily see Harry G. Peter drawing white gorilla bodyguards. And Etta Candy is there, saying "woo-woo!" and offering them candy.

White Gorilla Bodyguards? That's like 6 different kinds of awesome! Not quite as awesome as Head from Gail's All-New Atom series from that era, but close.

I went to the comic book store to get some of the Rebirth comics.
They were sold out of Wonder Woman: Rebirth #1.
But I did get the Rebirth issue of Detective Comics! Only $5.99 for a book that came out yesterday with a $2.99 cover price!
The proprietor asked me why I didn't get Flash: Rebirth #1 (also priced $5.99). I told him I was never a big Flash fan.
What I should have told him is that I might have bought quite few of the Rebirth #1 issues (the ones that weren't sold out) just out of curiosity. Like Green Arrow or Green Lantern or Aquaman. If they had been priced at $2.99 like it says on the front cover. But I absolutely wasn't interested in paying double for comics that have been out for a week or (in some cases) a day. (I needed that Detective Comics though. It's a sickness.)
I guess he knows his business. Just like I know that I don't want to pay $6 for a bunch of books that were $3 yesterday. (Except Detective Comics.)
I may pick some of these issues up (at cover price) at Barnes and Noble in a few weeks, like I did with the New 52.
I also got Squadron Supreme #7, Batgirl #52 and Harley Quinn and her Gang of Harleys #3. I haven't read any of them yet.
