I've definitely bought a few cool looking foreign variants over the years -- an issue of the Greek Walt Disney Comics title, a cool looking Mexican Daredevil, and a Mexican issue of Kamandi that, for some reason, has the Batman logo on it. If I have the time, I'll photograph them and post them here later.

Never, though I've bought plenty I wish I *hadn't* read.

I've bought thousands with the intention of flipping. Not really speculation, buying out collections at bulk rate and selling off smaller sets. If you buy right it's guaranteed money, although not guaranteed to be quick or easy money. I bought one collection of several thousand comics and it took me I believe two years to sell it all off, and half of it I ended up letting go at bulk rate to the next guy.

For years I bought books just to keep the collection complete. Money wasn't an object. I would be buying 40,50 books a week and maybe only reading a dozen. I was one sick puppy.Sure enough when I finally sold my collection 2 years ago more than half was unread or even opened.

Ah, but you couldn't read those anyway. That's cheating. I have a few collections that I refuse to read on philosophical grounds. They were gifts. I often find myself staring at them on my shelf in anger. I relegated them to "The Shelf of Shame" where all trades that go that under-preform and displease me.

Not intentionally. I have gotten home and found an issue I never intended to buy, usually because it was stocked next to something I wanted.

I have a number of comics I got either just for the cover or as trade bait. I usually end up reading everything eventually anyway, but I don't always have time. I also have some issues I had as a a kid that I re-purchased for nostalgia reasons - like G.I. Joe #1 and Transformers #5 - that I don't feel the need to read now.

Without exaggeration, I have three times now bought stacks of bargain bin issues (which I carefully selected), only to have the following somehow stuck to the back of one of them or otherwise slipped in to what I had picked out: I actually asked the shop manager if he was messing with me. He'd never seen the book before. So I wonder if I'm just cursed. Anyway, I have no intention of reading it.

Every comic book I've bought, I've read.

Every comic book I've bought, I've read. That's impressive. I read faster than I buy these days, but I've still only read about 60% of my collection largely because I read in full runs, so I buy massive runs I've heard great things about with the intention of getting to them someday.

No. I can see the novelty factor, but it doesn't appeal to me. I have a stack I haven't read yet, but will eventually.

I don't think I've ever used 'philosophical grounds' as a reason not to read a book (which has me curious what rubbed you the wrong way). Some things have made me a tad bit uncomfortable, such as the 'God' and 'Lucifer' in DAWN comics, though I reasoned in my mind it's a fictitious DAWN universe (I hope)....
