Bought Jet X2O a couple of weeks ago. Very early PS2 title, but doesn't feel like it. Plays like a bit of a mashup of Wave Race and Hydro Thunder. Cover is so early 00's it hurts Other than that, I've mostly been playing miscellaneous NES titles on my Pocket Go. Still feels weird to have this many games and systems at my disposal so easily, but also fun Mainly been trying to play River City Ransom, Duck Tales, and Darkwing Duck with very little success. Took me forever to understand how to swing Scrooge's cane in Ducktales and even then, I'm not entirely sure how I did it

The best part of that Ducktales game is the music. Still pops.

The best part of that Ducktales game is the music. Still pops. Well most Capcom games have pretty damn good music, I don't think anyone's debating that

So a copy of Animal Crossing for the Gamecube showed up at work and I snagged it for a song. Never played the series before. Still had the included memory card inside with some data left over from it's previous owner, which I decided to kept and am currently playing in her town as a newer character (myself). The game has a lot of charm and interesting hooks to it, making what I think was a fairly worthwhile purchase. Especially considering that it got me to break out my Gamecube, which is quite a feat in of itself

My son loved that game as a kid. I never did play it, but I'd watched him play it from time to time.

I've been playing Elden Ring since it came out. For those not in the know, it's the latest entry by the folks behind Dark Souls/Bloodborne/Sekiro and has the usual brutally challenging yet fair gameplay, fallen world full of monsters, and clever level design. Notable feature new to this entry is its their first foray into an open-world game, and the lore was written by none other than George R.R. Martin of Game of Thrones/A Song of Ice and Fire fame.
I'm thoroughly sucked in and massively enjoying it. I've got over 120 hours in and still having fun, so it's been a great purchase value even without a big sale. Best entertainment dollar per hour ratio in a while.
The exploration and world is a lot like a corrupted Breath of the Wild. Really engrossing.
My biggest nitpick is the lack of story, though. These games are always pretty obfuscated with very little direct storytelling. Usually you have to piece together what's happened and is happening from scraps of conversation, item descriptions, etc. I had hoped with the increased scope of the game and bringing in a big-time author they would have brought the storytelling more to the forefront, but no such luck. Like their others, I am going to watch a lore explanation video on Youtube after I finish to get the full story, but the gameplay is so much fun it's not ruining the exerpience.

A version of the 2001 Build of Duke Nukem Forever has been leaked online after being speculated about from a tweet by Randy Pitchford of Gearbox eons ago I saw this news. It would be super interesting to play if it's in a halfway completed state just to see what they were thinking at the time and also as a time capsule. Duke was a major pop culture hit at the original time, but MAN has society changed A LOT since then. Even the game that was released was super dated with regards to pop culture references and sensibilities, and I imagine this one is even more so.

Well, I finished my first playthrough of Elden Ring with about 160 hours. Dollar per hour of entertainment, that's got to be one of the best deals in entertainment!

We had a copy of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 for the PS2 show up at work and of course I snagged it. Very fun. I mostly got it because I remember staying up late at my Grandparent's house playing either it or 4 with my cousin (honestly can't remember). Most of my PS2 collection is either, games I always wanted to play because I never had a PS2 until a couple of years ago or stuff I played with my cousin
I had Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 that I also got from work, but trying to maneuver through the school level with all that fog was not fun, so I donated it back

Well, this just dropped. Got it on Steam last night. It's maniacal, nostalgic fun.

Great magazine cover from 1987:
Just now seeing this, but back in the C64 and Amiga days (I had both), I was a master of both Wizball and Leaderboard. I actually turned over the scoreboard on Wizball... more than once. I was pretty adept at the original Loderunner as well.
My preferred weapon of choice for the C64 and Atari platforms was the Epyx 500XJ, (aka the Konix Speed King). Best 1-button stick ever made.
Ever.

How widespread was the NES in Europe? I've always been curious about that considering how the Master System and Mega Drive/Genesis dominated over there
