How widespread was the NES in Europe? I've always been curious about that considering how the Master System and Mega Drive/Genesis dominated over there Speaking only from my own circle of friends/relatives, I’d say it was widespread. As many people talked about it, and played it, as they did other consoles. That said, if I chatted to 5 people at a time about consoles, 3 of them would probably have had a Sega Master System II or Mega Drive, the remaining 2 having an NES or SNES. But it pretty much felt equal. At school, it didn’t feel like Mega Drive and Master System II dominated the conversations, nor did it seem NES and SNES dominated. Another town might have told a different story, though… (A little bit before that, I would say more of my friends/relatives spoke about the Amstrad CPC 464 than the likes of the Spectrum and Commodore; and later on, it felt like more spoke about the PlayStation than Xbox)

Ah, yes, the added fun of cleaning.

Well, this just dropped. Got it on Steam last night. It's maniacal, nostalgic fun. My kids surprised me today and had this downloaded on my Switch for Father's Day. You are so right...I am having a blast with it! Feels like right out of the 90's...they nailed it with this one.

Relative of course, the company Atari shut down in the 80s and the name/brand has been sold/moved/revived several times since then.

Did you know that Title Match Pro Wrestling (Atari 2600) has been scientifically proven to have been the best video game…ever?

Been having a bit of an itch for an FPS that wouldn't take forever to download and install on Steam or GOG, tried the original Unreal Tournament (a favorite since fifth grade) but it doesn't seem to want to play well with modern systems and I wasn't interested in tinkering with modern solutions to get it working. But then I remembered that I had UT04 and quickly downloaded it
Man, does that stuff ever feel like a very well-worn and yet still comfortable shoe~
Played a couple of rounds of the single player campaign to warm myself back up on the controls and I was constantly getting top scores. Really like the special abilities you get with the Adrenaline pills

Chaotic fun.

Really like the special abilities you get with the Adrenaline pills I got the original Unreal Tournament to work on Windows 10. I'm usually good at noting game installation issues and resolutions, and I don't have any notes on needing to do anything special. I am limited to windowed mode on UT99, though. UT 2004 is still my second-most played game, just behind Star Wars Battlefront II (the 2004 version - that's right, my gaming is stalled in aughts). I haven't played as much this year, though, since my "server" PC upgrade, I haven't been able to get the SSD containing the VMs with the dedicated game servers recognized by the new Linux installation. I'm missing the convenience of connecting to a server setup with all of my preferences versus having to setup a bunch of individual maps in instant action.

So, I bought a copy of Hot Shots Golf 3 for my PS2. I've always had a love for the Mario Golf games (especially the GBC adaptations) and had heard of the Hot Shots series, but hadn't played much (mostly because my copy of Fore! was too far gone to play most of it and HS Tennis kind of wore out it's welcome rather early). And for what it is, it's pretty fun. Really enjoy the "Short Course" gameplay, which is kind of like mini-golf

I liked the Master System, too: I love Nostalgia Nerd's retrospective on the system. It's a shame that it just really didn't take off here in the states, but Nintendo kind of had a stranglehold over American kids as well as developers

Bought "Enter The Gungeon" on sale the other day through GOG. Had been eye balling it for a while and finally decided to go ahead and purchase it
And it's pretty fun, though incredibly tough. Certainly gives my reflexes and fingers a good work out on my Xbox One Controller
