Saw this on a retro site earlier, I hadn’t heard of it until now: You mean the Duck Hunt game itself? Yes. It didn’t ring a bell. Used to buy a SNES magazine many, many years ago, I didn’t come across this one.

You mean the Duck Hunt game itself? Yes. It didn’t ring a bell. Used to buy a SNES magazine many, many years ago, I didn’t come across this one. Oh yeah, this one got played a lot back in the day because when you bought a new NES console it was commonly bundled with Super Mario Bros and Duck Hunt and came with both the rectangle gamepads and the "light gun" pictured on your game image. So lots of people had this game by default. Duck Hunt was a pretty simple game, but could be very addictive. Ducks would pop up and you just aimed the gun in the direction of your TV and you just tried to go as long as you could. The clay pigeons part was the best, trying to get perfect runs (again, not a difficult game, more just an endurance thing).

Sometimes the simplest games can be fun. I played some tank game (possibly on the Atari 2600) as a kid. Very basic, very simplistic, but addictive fun.

Man, so many hours sunk into Duck Hunt. So many wasted attempts to shoot that damn dog that points and laughs at you.

Now that it's been patched, I can wholeheartedly recommend Marvel's Midnight Suns to any Marvel or superhero fan. It's so nice to finally have a good representation of Magik in particular in other media after the dreadful New Mutants movie.

I might have passed this game by, appreciate the recommendation.

Bought Bejeweled 3 and Knights Of Pen & Paper 2 off of Steam
Have always been fascinated with Bejeweled from it's relaxing new age music to it's addicting game play. The only problem I have with it is that it's having trouble running on anything bigger than a monitor from when it came out, so the viewing size is fairly small
I've played a version of KOP&P2 before on mobile I think, but it had mobile elements to it that I wasn't particularly fond of regardless of it being a unique and fun experience. Basically it's kind of like a RPG, but with a lot of table top elements and a hell of a lot of humor

The only problem I have with it is that it's having trouble running on anything bigger than a monitor from when it came out, so the viewing size is fairly small Love Bejeweled 3 (played it on the PS3 all the time) and recently downloaded on Steam as well. I was having a problem with viewing size as well, but I did the following and it helped increase it: -Find your Bejeweled.exe file. I believe the default location is Program Files (x86)>Steam>steamapps>common>Bejeweled 3 -Right click and select "Properties" -Select the "Compatibility" tab -Check the "Run this program in compatibility mode:" box and then select "Windows 7" from the dropdown below it. I forget when you run the program if you have to change anything in "Options" from the main menu, but the only things checked are "Fullscreen" and "Normal" resolution of 800x600. So still not true fullscreen, but prior to all that it was pretty tiny. Now it's fairly decent. Your desktop will render a little funny in the background as well, but it all goes back to normal when you exit the game.

Steam Sega Mega Drive bundle. 50 classics for about 25 bucks. you can thank me later. Yeah, great call! Would be nice to add these as well, thanks.
By the way, there's also the Atari Vault, which includes both 18 classic Atari Arcade games (Tempest, Millipede, Centipede, plus the old school Asteroids, Space Duel, etc), as well as over 80 Atari 2600 games.
Another good Arcade bundle is the Arcade Classics Anniversary Collection, which features several early Konami shoot-em-ups.

I'm finding with a few exceptions I enjoy games modeled after the classic 8 and 16 bit era more than most of the actual games from that time. I've become too spoiled with modern conveniences, but I like the aesthetic.
To that end, I cannot recommend strongly enough The Messenger. It's a comedic homage to Ninja Gaiden/Metroidvanias with a great soundtrack.

I was thinking Atari as well, they pulled the Atari Vault game off of steam but they now have Atari 50: The Anniversary Celebration. It has the arcade and 2600 stuff, but the've added the 5200, 7800, and even some Lynx and Jaguar titles. Plus a lot of bonus content like video histories. I need to check out the other one you mentioned as well.

I picked up Atari 50 after reading some raves, and it is astonishing. You get not only the games, but a timeline of Atari's history in kind of a museum walkthrough form, including interview clips with surviving developers, info on prototype games, and such. The 100+ games themselves can be brought up from a list or as you reach them on the timeline.
A highlight for this forum might be the inclusion of digital versions of all three of the Swordquest comics that that came with the games themselves; plus, Digital Eclipse has completed and included the concluding fourth game in the series, Airworld (no comic for this one. unfortunately).

I do! I remember getting it as a kid. I was expecting to somehow be amazing. Not sure in what way as it's just cereal...which it was. Just cereal.
