I didn’t know this was even a thing: It's become a big part of the retro video game scene along with the Power Glove. Kind of surprised that they haven't at least attempted to re-release it
Also Ralston made cereals for just about everything, especially licensed

Oh, man, the Powerglove was the coolest-looking steaming pile of crap. The thing absolutely sucked and didn't work well, but it seemed so cool. My friend had one, and we used it more as a cyborg sci-fi arm in imagination games than with the NES.
Though a rerelease with the motion control technology we have today could be really cool.

I had some super old Mario pins I recently rediscovered. No idea where they came from or if they were worth anything.

I've started Midnight Suns now that the Storm DLC has come out and I'm enjoying it a lot. It's a combination of a turn-based tactical game like X-com and a deckbuilder. You create your own superhero (the child of a witch who fought in magic wars 300 years ago) and get to team up with about a dozen or so Marvel Superheroes + 4 more if you have the DLC. You get the usual suspects like Spider-Man, Wolverine, Hulk, Iron Man, Captain Marvel and Captain America. But with Midnight Suns most of the characters are from the magical side of the Marvel Universe, so apart from Dr. Strange and the Scarlet Witch, we also get Ghost Rider (Robbie Reyes, but for the Danny Ketch fans, he does have a skin that is the 90s Ghost Rider and Johnny Blaze also shows up), Sister Grimm of the Runaways, Blade and Illyana Rasputin of the New Mutants. The DLC adds Deadpool, Morbius, Venom and Storm.
Each character has their own move sets and specialties and you can fine tune those somewhat (each has deck of 8 move cards and you need to follow some rules to how many of some types of cards you can include). Spider-Man for instance has quick moves, can target multiple enemies and web some opponents up so they can't act that round. Captain America can taunt enemies and protect others, Dr. Strange has little direct damage, but has a lot of tricks that can increase the number of cards, make the cards you have stronger etc. Magik can teleport opponents around, knocking them into each other and into traps.
Characters tend to have 4 different costumes (each costume available with multiple colour swaps.) for in battle and a couple of different more clothes outside battle. I usually stick with the defaults costumes, because those tend to be the ones that are true to the comics. Sadly, the fourth costume, which you tend to unlock once you have maxed out a specific hero is usually really disappointed, being really overdesigned. The colour swaps tend to include some obvious, but welcome ones: you can switch Dr. Strange Red&Blue costume to an all-blue costume that resembles Ditko's original version. Captain America has a black variant for US Agent or a Red/White version that resembles the Red Guardian.
And as somebody with limited free time these days, I appreciate that the game is broken up in days which usually don't take a long time to play: early days gets you to train your heroes, upgrade your base and moveset, mid-day you can go onto a mission with a group of 3 (for non-story missions you don't even need to bring the custom hero you made) and in the evening you can talk with heroes, getting closer to them as well join some of the various clubs the heroes have set up (the magic users have their own rituals, Robbie Reyes and Spider-Man have a little workshop set up where they build stuff till Tony Stark intrudes and there is a book club with Blade, Captain America, Captain Marvel and Wolverine. The book club was by far my favourite.
Sadly I heard that the game was not a big hit, so a sequel does not seem to be coming anytime soon. Shame as this is one of the better Marvel games.

I laughed way too long at this. But anyone that's played Breath of the Wild knows exactly what this means.

Hadn’t heard of this until last night: It's fun for what it is, but it kind of gets old pretty fast. The best thing about it was the soundtrack by Offspring which Sega and Acclaim removed in every home port

I'm almost impressed you managed to be alive at the time and miss that this was a thing.
I also didn't know (for more likely forgot) Offspring did the soundtrack. What a disappointment it was left out of the home versions.

I'm sure it's a royalties thing, and it's disappointing. So many pieces of media that were made iconic alongside their music suffer greatly when it is removed.

So Super Mario RPG is getting a remake
The only problem with it that I have is that it isn't trying to replicate the late 90's CGI look that the original had. Otherwise, very excited for it, and I usually don't care for RPGs that much

Our youngest son just told me about the Mario RPG remake last night. I am not sure how I feel about it. I don't think that there was anything "wrong" with the original. I don't even think it is a hard to find classic; I am pretty sure I have it downloaded on the Wii or Wii U. Maybe even the Switch. Both our boys played it multiple times, the youngest being the one that likes it the most. And I have played it a lot myself. Just hope they don't turn it into the FF7 Remake abomination (apologies for those that liked it) beat em up "RPG" that turned out to be.
