So I spend the afternoon yesterday building and programming myself a raspberry pie woth retro pie so I could play roms on my tv. It was easier then I expected. Very nice. I've thought about it myself but I'm in decent shape with my Wii U virtual console. How was building and programming, then loading it, and how is the experience itself? Past experiences with roms and emulators have been more trouble than they're worth in my opinion, and the virtual console is just so easy I use that now, but how is it?

Got a copy of Darkest Dungeon at the Steam Summer Sale, pretty hard and I get too attached to my party members, which is a bad idea for a roguelike, but overall enjoyable. Artstyle is heavily inspired by Mike Mignola.

Past experiences with roms and emulators have been more trouble than they're worth in my opinion, and the virtual console is just so easy I use that now, but how is it? So far its great. I like having multiple systems in one easy setting. Instead of having to dig through my sega collection, super nintendo or n64 collection I can just play it there. Although N64 games has given me a little trouble getting it to work completely with a ps3 controller so I might buy a N64 usb controller for that. The building part was staight forward. Load the relevant programs onto a memory card and put it in a shell. Load all the roms to a usb drive and that was almost that. The whole "unpacking and loading" part took some time but not because it was hard to do just because my internet connection is not always the best. Virtual console on something like the wii u is great, but there is a lot of old games I love that is not on there. Of you are mostly looking for nintendo stuff or a few other systems the virtual console will work fine, but there are some games that I have and love, like various N64 games, that you are unlikely to ever get on that because of lack of general interest and rights issues.

Anyone know if across the board, console or pc, if Rainbow Six Vegas 1& 2 have either or both a one player campaign or local co-op?

Anyone know if across the board, console or pc, if Rainbow Six Vegas 1& 2 have either or both a one player campaign or local co-op? They have single player campaigns and online co-op. Dunno if there is local co-op. I decided to give the first game another go recently, since I never got more than 1/4 of the way through the first level in Mexico. I've clearly gotten better at the game, since the Mexico level wasn't very difficult, but the stingy checkpoint system can be grating once you get to Vegas. I clear a floor of 15+ terrorists, clear the floor below of around 20 terrorists, and then get 1-shotted by someone I never saw in the next room and have to start the whole thing over again

I have to admit, this may be unpopular, but as much as I loved the first one, I was thoroughly unimpressed with the second. I remember them dropping the interesting level design for unremarkable bland, linear just open square levels. It was like a checklist of visiting various Disney locations and that's it. I found it very boring. In fairness, it has been a very long time since I played it, so who knows if I would feel the same today. But, yeah, this looks really cool. I got past one of the four major milestones in Dragon Age: Origins and parked that one for a while. I don't think I'm dropping it, just taking a break. It's a pretty big time and energy sink. I scored a good chunk of the Dead Rising games on a Humble Bundle for PC. Specifically, DR 2, the DR 2 release with the original protagonist from the first, and DR3. I played DR 1 and 2 a lot on XBOX 360 back in the day, and they were an absolute blast, cheap bosses aside. Definitely going to have some stupid fun with this one. It's a creative weapon-making, zombie-killing sandbox. Highly recommended if you've never played them.

Did it once, and I don't think I went through the effort of getting all of the extras. I know I did for the first game. I got KH Final Mix 1.5 or whatever and I'm at the point where I'm at the end of the game. I started trying to go for all the "new" secret extras which are much harder to acquire. Now though, it just really feels like an unnecessary time suck. I guess as I get older and have less time on my hands I either can't afford to do all of the bonus treasure hunting/100% completion stuff or I'm just more interested in narrative progression. i haven't played it for months now. When I go back I'm not sure if I'll continue. I did want to play KH2 once more before 3 came out. Even though I remember liking the first KH a lot better. The story for the franchise has just gotten so ridiculously convoluted that I think may have turned off some folks. I remember way back when starting the second game, the story acted as if you had played the GBA titles or PSP titles, or mobile phone game title. Because I didn't know anything about organization 13 or whatever, and from the jump I just remember the game assuming I was supposed to know these people. And I don't mean cameo characters from other games that didn't add much to the plot. Hopefully KH3 doesn't do this, because there have been a few games that have come out in the 12 years since that have added more to the continuity. And I ain't got time for all that.

I finished Prey a few weeks ago. It's really, really great. In fact, it's probably tied with Dishonored's campaign as my second favorite video game campaign (Knife of Dunwall/Brigmore Witches is #1).

Well finally pulled the trigger and bought a Xbox 1S. Got a 500GB console bundle with Halo 5, Master Chief Collection, Gears of War 4 and Gears of War Ultimate Edition(Gow 1-3 & Judgement Day). So two new games, plus remastered original Halo trilogy. The GoW collection is a nice bonus on a different console since GoW 1-3 is downloaded on our 360. Now I just gotta snag another controller and we will have everything here for my son's birthday next month.

As a big Dragon Age fan: which milestone did you do and which resolution did you pick? Sure. I rescued the mages in their tower. Saved the main dude and Wynn (I think that's her name) is in my party. Man, it is crazy how much Microsoft is practically giving away with these XBOX packages now compared to console prices last gen. Unrelated - ugggghhhh, Dead Rising 2 and the Frank West version are terribly optimized pieces of CRAP on PC. Lazy ports. I haven't had to work this hard to try and get a game to work in a long time that wasn't built on a Bethesda engine. I don't have time to mess with it right now which is a shame because I want to kill some zombies.

Blanka will always be my favorite fighter ever. SF Alpha 3 on the PS1 is one of best in the franchise since the original. I'm not much of fighting game player but I like the old 2D fighting games even if I'm not good at them. I have several others on the PS1 too.

So I was thinking of preordering the SNES classic mini because it seems cool. 21 games from the golden era of gaming for me and it's all for $70. But then I hear how how badly things went for people that tried to get their hands on the NES classic a few months back. Scalpers basically took over everything, buying up all stock. I really can't stand people like that. Even though Nintendo says they are greatly increasing stock for this new release, I'm not going to even try to jump hoops just to be disappointed. Reading people's comments online it seems getting one of these at fair price will be an almost insurmountable task. I really just wanted to get this for my son. He's a baby now, but maybe just have this around until he is old enough to play at 5 or something. That is a while from now, but I thought it might be interesting to let him play games I used to enjoy as a kid. Emulator it is then :/
