Wish I had backwards compatible PS3 so I could play Shadow of the Colossus. My brother in law highly reccomends it to me based on what he knows I play. Shadow of the Colossus was remastered under the Ico Collection for PS3. Should be able to find a copy relatively cheap.

Finally got my Playstation back. It's working for now, can't count on it lasting forever though. Going to start saving for a PS4 starting now.

I've been trying a ton of different games on Steam over the last week. None of them have really done it for me though. I'm itching to play but can't find the right game to scratch that itch.

I've considered getting one of those Total War games. The concept is always interesting to me but the games are too complex. I never win unless I have a blatant edge over the computer army. I had Shogun a long time ago. Maybe I can find that and install it on my current computer.

So I decided to play some Darksiders on my 360 last night. I was making reasonable progress where I had left off last time, trying to figure out puzzles. Even came across a new enemy that I hadn't fought before and did well. So I keep playing. I got to a boss battle, and thought yeah, I'm not doing this tonight an paused the game. I helped my wife start dinner and then gave it a shot fighting the boss and did it dying only once. So I kept playing. Finally made my way through the section I was at, and got a new weapon. I got excited and proud of myself like my boys use to do when they were younger. They'd come running to me ... Daddy, guess what I did ... and theyd tell me, and I'd give em an "good job buddy, awesome". I felt a role reversal last night wanting to wake my son up so I could tell him what I accomplished on a game he completed probably a week or two after we got it.
I'm having fun with the game, and will more than likely get Darksiders 2 since you get to play the Horseman Death, which to me seems like it could make it a whole different game from this one playing War.

I never played the first Darksiders, but Darksiders 2 was pretty fun for the little time I played it.
I think I'm going to buy a PS4 just for FIFA 15.

I'm really debating on a new system, and really have to start looking into one for the boys to make a good choice what to buy them for Christmas. My wife's car is finally paid off and it's within the budget to get a Xbox One, PS4 or Wii U for them. Being the boys are Halo fans it will probably be a Xbox One, but of what little I initially read, I didn't care for the online control that Microsoft seemed to want to have over a user. I just need to do more research now that all the systems have been out a while and see what people are saying. We just got a used PS3 for the boys last Christmas and I have gotten about zero time on it, mostly due to what we have to play on it. I like that the network is free and I don't have to pay to be able to watch Netflix (a service I already pay for) on it.

Microsoft backed off on the online only thing. You still have to go online once a day to authenticate, but it's up to the game publishers to decide if they want to require you to be online to play. The trade off is that the thing where you were able to share games with people without them having the disc has been eliminated (maybe just for now?). I'm not sure if you still have to pay to watch Netflix, but that was definitely one of the dumbest things about the 360. The only complaints I heard of after the uproar over the required online thing died down was something about that motion control thing (can't remember the name) being on all the time and something about it mining information (but that seemed more like paranoia than anything).

IIRC there was a patent filed how the motion control thing could detect how many people were watching a movie and would be able to ask to purchase a license if there were a greater number of viewers than allowed. It was a tech-application, but I don't think they intended to apply it directly like it said in the patent description.

Ok, yeah that's probably what I read. I'm a lone wolf, so such a feature would mean nothing to me.

Thanks for the info gentlemen, I'll keep it in mind. I don't play online and at this point I let the boys play with their friends (in life not online friends) when we had Live. So a online centered or excessive online demands are a big turn off to the system. But the boys are begging for the new Halo so I'm not sure how well I can solve this.
Me I have enough games already purchased that I have yet to finish and many more still on 360 and PS3 that I want to play that a new system isn't even on my radar for me. And going in blindly .... I'm starting to think its time to go back to the arms of my most trusted manufacturer and get a Wii U.
Here up to Christmas I'm sure I'll be checking in with you guys on various things to help me make a good purchase. Im pretty sure PapaShogun just recently bought a Wii U.

I think if you enjoyed previous Nintendo consoles the Wii U is probably a good choice, especially if you plan on keeping the PS3 and/or 360 to finish those games. I've been really tempted to get one just to replay Wind Waker, but I got a 3DS to replay Ocarina of Time and didn't enjoy it nearly as much I remembered (but I did like WW more originally).

Yes, I've always enjoyed Nintendo's games and systems. Other than a PS1 fork in the Nintendo road much later after it came out, the 360 is my first major system not Nintendo that I have explored more games on.
I have Ocarina on a Gamecube collection disc that I have played (along with the Master's Quest version) and am helping my oldest son with now as he plays through it, and I find the kid Link stuff is soooo tedious and boring than what I remember. I think with Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword I like the adult Link, so maybe that part of the game will still be as good as I remember. Though WW is a favorite of mine that I find I revisit more than other Zelda games post N64. WW is just so expansive and more open and so much to do, that the mini games and quests that you don't want to do, don't really effect your abilities and strength as much as they do in other Zelda games, where they may not be required but they damn sure make it easier.
I also like that Wii U supports more games to the ability of 360 and PS3 level, where if I did buy one I could continue on with the Batman and Assassins Creed games and the such. It's definitely a strong possibility I'll end up going that way and getting a Xbox One even later. But who knows for sure yet.
