I really agree with impulse's comment on the Switch and retro gaming. For someone that still have a working NES/SNES/GC and unfortunatly a non-working N64, trying find and buy actual carts/discs for these original consoles is getting expensive. And the "classic" versions of the NES and SNES really didn't have enough I wanted to play to justify the buy. But if more games were either ported to the Switch via carts or downloads I will be more interested in buying games. As it is the kids are about the only ones that play the Switch. (Though as some point I do plan to but BotW on the Switch even though I've got it on the Wii U.)
I have never played Zelda prior to Ocarina of Time, and never diverged from the 3D Zelda's, of anything that came out after that. So I might be interested in seeing some of the older and 2D Zelda games be remastered and released on the Switch.
As if I didn't have enough games started, I started playing God of War at my son's urgent insistence. I haven't been playing much of anything at all lately, not even Warframe, but it seems like a compelling enough story that I will keep at it and play some more at some point. Though I said that about Spiderman and I haven't gone back to that either. I haven't had a whole lot of time recently to play games, but I still enjoy them.

You're right, but it's not even just an expensive pain in the butt- the Switch would be SO much more convenient. Having them all available online and in one place to take on the road instead of storing and shuffling aging discs and carts subject to wear and tear would be great. I could see them doing well with either selling them individually or even a premium monthly sub like a Netflix. Atta boy. How did you like it? And I hear you on having little free time lately.

For those that use the Switch primarily or even often for travel that would indeed me much more convenient. I think the story will carry me further than the actual game play. Not that it is isn't quality, just hack n slash has never really been my thing since we moved passed 2D beat em ups back in the day. But Kratos and BOY are interesting characters. I've only so far fought "the stranger" (though I know who he is from seeing my son play) and the guy that upgrades your weapons and armor. So they at least seem to have interesting characters and villains so I think it will promise to be entertaining even if the game play style isn't my normal cup of tea. So overall what I have played I would give an 9 rating to it. I think I'll find myself going back to GoW before Spiderman at least.

Thanks to a lucky combination of gift cards for my birthday and a phenomenal sale, I was finally able to get a larger TV for the living room that fits the space so I don't have to strain so hard to see the TV from my couch. As a bonus, the prices have come down enough that 4K and HDR are basically standard features now. A lot of the games on my PS4 Pro have an option to turn HDR on that I can now use.
Shadow of War looked pretty good before, maybe a bit more like a souped-up last gen game than a current game major title. Turned on HDR and played on 4K TV. WOW, what a difference. It's gorgeous. The HDR makes it look so much more vibrant and like it has so much more depth. The TV's native upscaling to 4K helps, too.
Just, wow, I am pleasantly impressed at how much better it looks on this equipment.

I downloaded Fortnite for my Switch the other day and I really don't see what everybody loves about it. I think I'd have more fun if the time were unlimited and you really explore the map while shooting people but with that storm thing constraining everyone to a central location exploration is limited...and I'll be damned if I go in for any micro-transactions. The money it costs for the skins is just dumb.

I agree with you all on the retro things for switch, making a virtual console option available like with the Wii/3ds/wii u would be great. Although as a collector I think I would prefer some sort of compilation like with the mega man series or crash bandicoot series. If I could get something like that with other series like Supermario, wario, donkey kong, Pokemon or zelda I would be so excited.
Oh and I am somewhat excited for the new pokemon series. Mainly to see if it is actually different on the switch.

E3 was really cool from what I saw online. A ton of games I won't be able to play due to adulthood Sony wasn't there, but still made a huge impact. The new Final Fantasy 7 trailer looks dope. I know it's been a long wait, but it really seems like it will be worth it once released. Also, Final Fantasy VIII remaster which is cool. It isn't just a port, they actually did touch up the original graphics to a degree. Never played this one, so I'm interested. I know a lot of people are done with Star Wars games as long as they are in EA's hands, but I have to say I'm really interested in this new single player story campaign with Fallen Order. I'm a sucker for single player story games. The game still needs a little more polish (check those Wookies), but it still seems exciting to me. The new Avengers game that everyone was waiting two years for Square Enix to finally showcase dropped it's debut trailer, and the reception was lukewarm online. A lot of jokes being thrown around with how the team looks. I have to say, it's a strange take, since you have the MCU vibe, but the face models and voices aren't based on the actors from the film. It's strange, and it's easy to see why people are making wisecracks like it looking like a porno/cosplay parody. The gameplay looks nice at least. Crystal Dynamics, is the same developer that did the new Tomb Raider games, which have gotten a lot of praise. This game still has a ways to go though, and I'm not sure about the story they're going with. We'll see though. Ugggh, I really want to play this game, but I don't have a damn Nintendo Switch. UGGGGGH!!! Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3!!!! Looks like so much old school mayhem, and fun. Nintendo is publishing it, so it's an exclusive. Probably will never see the light of day as a PS release. Folks have been waiting years for another one of these too. You can be a ton of people in this game. I was really surprised at the roster. Nintendo also had a couple of more cool things to showoff. Like Super Mario Maker 2, Luigi's Mansion 3, a new Animal Crossing game, and a remake of Link's Awakening that looks dynamite. Personally, I thought they had the best showing: One exclusive game from Nintendo I also want is the Collection of Mana game that is coming soon. You get Final Fantasy Adventure (Seiken Densetsu), Secret of Mana (Seiken Densetsu 2), and previously unreleased in the USA Trials of Mana (Seiken Densetsu 3). Price is kind of high though for a collection of old games I think ($40). But wait there is more. The PS3 crowd wasn't completely left in the dust on that one since there is nice remake for Trails of Mana being released next year that is multi-console. I never finished the original Seiken Densetsu 3 when I got my hands on it via emulator, but it was a great game from what I played. Also, this doesn't look like a cheap remake like Secret of Mana was a couple of years back:

It was also announced Breath of the Wild 2 is in development. More of that would be cool. I hope but doubt they release it on Wii U as well since I already have one.

Yeah BotW2 is my next for sure purchase. (Though I still want to buy BotW on my Switch.) FF7 Remake Should have been FF7 Remastered. It would have been done already and you wouldn't have people second guessing a game they might think they'd like because it's taken 5 years to make a trailer and they still seemed to be going the episodic route. No thank you.

That Secret of Mana collection is already out. They stealth-dropped it the same day as the E3 direct.
It will be interesting to see what they can do with Breath of the Wild 2 with the development done totally on the Switch and not being held back by the Wii U's hardware.
Swtich has had a light first half of the year, but the rest of 2019 is nuts. Mario Maker 2 next week I think. Fire Emblem in July. Astral Chain in August. Link's Awakening and Daemon X Machina in September. Pokemon and Luigi's Mansion 3 for the holiday season. PLus stuff like Dragon Quest 11, Doom, Wolfenstein, the Witcher 3 by some sorcery, Panzer Dragoon, and a whole bunch others.

I have a Wii U, and it was a bad decision. Can't get a Switch though. I need to really catch up on PS4 before PS5 drops.

Most of the major ones seem to be getting ported to Switch, so that's good. Also no need to rush to PS4. The PS5 is going to be backward compatible with PS5, so you could wait and knock it out at once if you wanted.

I mean I have a PS4, but it's essentially just being used for Netflix for my 2 year old son right now. After reshuffling my schedule I have essentially an hour, maybe an hour and a half at night to do whatever. It comes down to comics or video games. Or a TV show. Right now I've been blazing through comics, but I'm going to start playing my PS4 games again. It's about time. I bought Spiderman like a year ago, and have barely played it.

The video game version of “there I said it” ... FPS are the pop music of video games.
