You can now watch Netflix without paying for Xbox live. You can download DLC and games without it also. Only thing you can't do is play with other people online, but local coop is fine.

For the actually fighting I like the GC version, Brawl? But I do like the adventure mode on the Wii. I don't have a Wii U yet, but I hope to get my boys (and me too) one for Christmas. I'm not a big fan of fighters but if it has an adventure mode I'll play more than just playing with them. Have you play New Super Mario Bros Wii U? They love that game but I can't keep up having to stay on screen together when I play with them. I have to play NES Super Mario Bros and blow them away to convince myself I've still got game lol

I know that the 3DS mode has a 'single-player classic mode,' but from what I know, the Wii U version will have different, exclusive modes, so I'm hoping for something like Melee's Adventure Mode, Stage Builder, Event Mode, ect. I don't have a Wii U yet either, but plan to pick one up sometime in Oct. with Mario Kart and Hyrule Warriors, but I did play New Super Mario Bros for the Wii, and know exactly what you mean! I hope to at least beat my friends in Mario Kart. But yeah, the thing I really love about Nintendo is their backlog of classic titles, so I can't wait to pick up SNES Metroid and Super Mario Bros. 2 (My favorites!) Are you a Club Nintendo member?

I want the new Smash Bros. I have a Wii U now. I haven't owned a Nintendo console since Super Nintendo as I had went with Sony from Playstation up until now (still want a PS4.) I'm looking forward to finally getting to play a Smash Bros. game on a consistent basis and not just when I'm at someone else's place.

It's not a knock against the PS4, it's just the demographic is usual more serious, violent, ect. type of games (which is great), but I've been craving some good ole' classic fun games (Mario, Legend of Zelda, ect.) The PS4 is definitely worth the investment, though, it's got a nice built in series of games to get, with more coming this fall/winter. Smash is gonna be a blast. Once I get my Wii U, I'll definitely add anyone interested to play games at some point.

Can anyone help me out here?
My Playstation in the living room is running Hulu very slow, it's lagging so bad I can't even watch a show. It's hardwired to the modem sitting right next to it.
My computer and tablet are streaming normally though. I ran a speed test on my PC and my speed seems fine. As far as I can tell it's a problem with the Playstation/modem connection or with Hulu on the Playstation only. It's not just streaming video that lags, the whole menu seems to be having problems right now. It's been this way all weekend. I think I played Ghosts one day this weekend and experienced no (or very little) lag. But I didn't play today. I don't know at the moment if everything is lagging.

I'd think the most likely scenario is something on Playstation/Hulu's end. If it persists, I wouldn't hesitate to call Playstation Customer Service, they've always helped me solve any problem I've had. On an unrelated note, I just picked up my Wii U from lay-away, so if anyone wants to add me for some Mario Kart or Smash (in the future), my ID is JLU51306, same as my username here.

Maybe delete and reinstall the Hulu app. I stopped using my Xbox/PS3 as streaming devices because the software for a lot of the streaming apps was absolute garbage for them. The PS3 in particular has some wonky thing with memory IIRC. If you can spare it, fork over the $90 (on sale) for a Roku 3. Darn-near flawless streaming performance.

Playing The Evil Within right now, and it's the perfect dose of hi-octane survival horror that I was looking for. If you are a fan of the Resident Evil series (RE4 in particular) you are going to love this game.
There isn't much to the story, just a myriad kaleidoscope of gruesome scenarios, horror after horror. It's like Shinji Mikami is testing your wits, trying to see how much you can take before breaking (It's called Psycho Break in Japan). Not for the faint of heart by any means.
Great game if you can stand it, and I applaud Mikami for reviving the survival horror genre. He's the master, after all.
This trailer is gruesome and therefore NSFW:

I was wondering about that game. Just yesterday a commercial for it popped up before a youtube video. Incidentally, I am playing through a horror/survival game. I started a new Dead Space game and played through it twice. This has been a favorite game of mine since I got it like 4 years ago or something, so I do replays a lot. Last night I started a new Dead Space 2 game. I had started this back when I got it and had played up to a certain boss I got stuck on and abandoned it for a while. Then for Christmas last year I got my boys Dead Space 3, which I haven't even started on. So I think I am going to try and play through DS2 and start a game of DS3. I'm remembering what I played of DS2 last night, so I am almost certain I haven't gotten to the point I quit the last time. I like the new guns so far, and the changes to their upgrading capabilities.
Silent Hill was what I would say was my first horror/survival game, though to me it's a lot different than comparing it to games like that, RE, or Dead Space in my mind. I think mostly because games of more recent consoles rely to much on the gore aspect of horror, and less on the horror part of horror. While Dead Space can be a bit too much for me, in Issac's death scenes, I can turn my head when I know I am going to die. But Dead Space so far has the horror aspect outside the gore too. Even a random steam pipe hissing, a chair I didn't even realize I kicked myself, and I have my plasma cutter pointed and ready. Just last night I don't know how many times something, whether a real creature or not, spooked me, causing me to jump. That I never run in Dead Space unless I AM running FROM something is because I am cautious around ever corner and bend in case there's a necromorph lurking.
I hear good things, and thought the trailer was good for the new ALIEN game Isolation. It's a FPS unfortunately, at least for me. I prefer third person shooters. But I think it looks good enough for me to give it a try or at least check out a demo if they have one.

The Dead Space series is excellent, and I would say it was the best survival horror series last gen. Scariest monsters I've ever seen!
I've also got Alien: Isolation and played the first couple hours of it so far. Very atmospheric, they nailed the Alien universe to a T in this one. It's super intense to play though, and it's amazing how frightening the Xenomorph can be when you are stuck on a spaceship alone with one. I'd say Isolation is scarier than Evil Within just because you can usually find a way to escape or fight your way through anything EW throws at you. You have no chance against the Alien in Isolation. If it finds you...you're toast.
Glad to see these kind of games come around again and just at the right time too.

Yes, I have been very pleased with the Dead Space games. Though I have only played the first Silent Hill, Dead Space is just as creepy and scary as it was. In fact, I just ran into the "children" necromorphs last night ... they always creep me out. Like the little "children" in the school in Silent Hill (and in the Silent Hill movie, but not portrayed as good as in the game to me).
I like the RE games, I've played, post RE4 (Wii), but they seem to be less horror/survival and more action, than the previous games. While I've only tried to play RE0 (GC), I've watched others play and videos on youtube. I couldn't deal with the controls and the view in the games previous to RE4. It was too frustrating so I wasn't having any fun with them. I like the on rails RE games on Wii for good shooting fun. They're not on the same level as the other RE games, but back stories of the characters from previous games was interesting to hear, not having played them myself.
Ever play Dark Sector (Xbox 360 or PS3)? That has to be my all time favorite game from the last gen consoles. Excellent mixture of fighting without it being just shooting and nothing more (Left 4 Dead, I'm looking at you). Plus the graphics are suburb on the 360 (haven't played on the PS3) even in comparison to games far more exposed as better, like Halo. In my opinion the most innovative shooter I have played on that generation of consoles. Well worth the $5-7, I've seen it go for just about anywhere I see it.

So help me God, I'm probably going to buy the upcoming Lego Batman game. Ace, Krypto, Frankenstein and Swamp Thing are all playable, and unlike the last one you don't have to wait until the last level to play as characters other than Batman, Robin and Superman.

I watched an interesting documentary on video games last night on Netflix. Video Games: The Movie
There were some very interesting pre-NES facts that I didn't know about, as I had missed that generation of consoles. By the time I had gotten my NES it was already several years into it's life. Even the initial release of the NES system was different from the what I finally got. I also hadn't realized how many other systems that came and went, that were out there during the life of Atari's reign. There were a lot of imitators, that tried to duplicate Atari's success at the time. I have heard older folks mention some of the pre Atari and systems available during the Atari, but had no idea it was something along the lines of the post SNES age, when the market was flooded with the next best system, many that failed.
I also had no idea, that Atari's ET game was responsible for the crash of video games at that time. Unless the documentary maker was exaggerating a little bit. But the non-industry and industry commentators seemed to support that. And the choice of non-industry commentators seemed odd. You got Will Wheaton, Zach Braff, Donald Faison, and two gals whose names I didn't recognize and don't recall now. They looked young enough to probably be in some current TV show and/or movie that is totally off my radar.
The con to this documentary for me, was the focus towards the end on the impact of video games on society, socially. Of course there was time spent on the "video games makes kids violent" aspect, which the industry of course had to refute. There was time spent on how gaming bring people together in a close knit community, and how some make friendships and even romantic relationship because they play with many different people. I guess this bored me to tears because I don't play online, and never really had anyone to play with up until I had children.
This also seemed to take time away from more interesting facts about consoles, and their development. Most of the focus was on pre-Atari, Atari, NES, SNES, current generation, and the future. That's a lot of history in between left out for the sake of tellings stories of Gears of War gamers meeting and getting married, or some emotional drivel like that. I guess I went into it thinking it was going to be an intellectual look at an industry that fascinates and entertains me. Instead half of it was the social impact of video games on people. It was still a good documentary to watch, and I did learn things I didn't know pre-NES but for almost two hours long, I thought it could have been far more informative than it was.
