Hooked up my PS2 fat for the first time in ages because I had a huge hankering to play GTA Vice City. Absolutely love the atmosphere of the game. Have it on Steam too, but the game just feels more natural with a controller

Taking a Warframe break. My wife surprised me with buying another copy of Final Fantasy 8 since my disc broke some years back. Retro gaming is costing more and more and I could not justify the costs then. But she bargain hunted and found a used working copy for under $20. Time for some nostalgia. Awwww you didn't get the remastered version that came out last summer? It's also $20. I might at some point. Just for the fact that the more Playstations Sony makes they're less and less likely to be that far backwards compatible. And PS1 consoles already aren't that cheap unless you go with the revamped PS1 (ugly as sin). I don't see me popping in any of my PS1 discs on the new PS7 (hell I don't even think the PS4 does).

I was just thinking to myself what game franchises did I wish I had caught on to when growing up? I think the top three would be Metroid, Resident Evil, and maybe Silent Hill. I just never really dived into the horror genre all that much since I was too scared to play those game alone. I know Metroid isn't horror, but I remember renting Super Metroid from Blockbuster when I was about 10 years ago, and couldn't stand to play much past the initial level. Just too tense. Also had no idea what was going on. All of these franchises have grown so much, and there are so many games it would be daunting to start to invest myself in getting around to playing any of them. However, I'd still like to give it a shot one day. Castlevania is also another franchise I'd like to dabble into. I had a SNES, and then Playstation so I could have gotten around to trying these out back in the day.

So Puck-Man Pac-Man just celebrated it's 40th Anniversary. What more is there to say about it? Fun and addicting little game. Loved Pac-Man Collection for the GBA and grew up playing the unofficial PC port by Champ Games

Broke out my Gamecube, surprised it still works as well as it does after ages of collecting dust in my cabinet. Lost my memory card, so I had to replace it. Mainly wanted to play Viewtiful Joe, WWE Day Of Reckoning, and The Sims. I was never particularly good at The Sims growing up, but it was fun to mess around with

Just revisited Fallout 3 for the first time in 5 years (I'm a PC gamer).
Forgot just how much I love that game.

Indie game hub itch.io is offering a bundle of 1600+ indie games for as low as $5.00. The offer is good for the next three days. I've never used the site before, and I'm not really into indie games, but I bought a bundle. Some of the games look promising, and there must be something worthwhile out of 1600 games.

GTA Vice City and San Andreas were so fun at the time, and I would love to see them get the modern remake/remaster treatment. I'd like them not to mess with the gameplay or atmosphere too much but just improve the visuals and add the more modern quality of life improvements.

The last thing the gaming world needs is another FF7 Remake version of an older game.

Do I understand you to mean that since FF7 Remake changes the core mechanics you don't want more of that? I could agree with that. If you are saying you don't want any more remakes at all, I can't agree. Fr one, the Resident Evil remakes have been excellent, and those were some of my favorites when I was younger. There's definitely a lot that could go wrong with remakes if not done right though.
Some games could benefit from just a facelift and modernized saving features. Others reimagined. Some are probably left well enough alone.

Yeah I am talking about the former. When I remake changes a game's core so that it's really only the same game in name, like the FF7 Remake, we, well I don't need anymore of that.
But yes remakes like what you are talking about and the RE remakes are all good. Reminds me I still need to buy a copy of the Shadow of the Colossus remake.

As someone who's obsessed with the culture of the 1980's and the very early 1990's, it was a wonderful experience. I need to play Vice City Stories at some point, apparently it incorporated a lot of gameplay tweeks from San Andreas for an overall better experience

Vice City was the first one I recall a concerted effort to do the missions and progress in the game, largely due to a college room mate playing through. We mostly watched him but all took some turns. Then came San Andreas. Wow, that a game. That one had everything going for it. Awesome setting, timing, soundtrack, improved controls and graphics, the addition of RPG elements and character customization. Turf wars mini game, great cast, just wow. Easily my favorite in the series by far. I'd love to play a remake/remaster with all the original dialogue and music intact but with improved visuals and controls, better saving, and my God fixing/allowing you to skip some of the annoying missions. Specifically talking to RC planes and the fly through the hoop ones.

I just like Vice City more because of sentimental reasons
