Ah, I just remembered how it was called the Sega Genesis in North America. Not to be biased, but I thought Sega Mega Drive sounded better.
I was quite the fan of the Sega Master System II.
There are a few games I would like for the Sega Mega Drive: HOME ALONE, TREASURE ISLAND DIZZY, SONIC THE HEDGEHOG, plus countless WWF games. Like I said, it was one of my favourite consoles.

I bought the sega mega drive mine not to long ago. Not a bad way to go if you want to play some games relatively easily and cheaply. Some good games on that

Speaking of old Sega consoles, back in 1999 a Genesis bundle with some games was the first thing I bought on ebay. I had a cousin that had a Genesis as kids but I never did. Just a SNES. Also speaking of old Sega consoles, I've for a long time been tempted to buy a Saturn. Problem isn't the price of the consoles, that I on and off watching the going price of. It's the one game that I would buy the whole console for; Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. It has added content that the PS1, at the time, and ports since, haven't had. But the game itself is going for way more than the console itself. Double the price most times Is there no modern console's digital store selling the Dreamcast version of the game anywhere? Not sure if you are into emulation at all, but I'm sure most remotely recent computers could run a Dreamcast game at this time. That could save you some money from buying the hardware that is already obsolete and only getting older. Not exactly like if it breaks you can take it into the shop or easily get spare parts. Emulating hardware also generally avoids the copyright issues of trying to do the SW. So you could maybe get an emulator running and only have to buy the disc? Save you some cash.
Also, I fired up Arkham City now that I finished Asylum. Once again, pointing out I played through these when they came out, but not since. WOW, from a technical and interface standpoint, it is an obvious and immediate improvement over Asylum in every way. The graphics are better, the controls are much quicker, more fluid and tight. Combat is more refined. From a mechanical standpoint, right off the bat, it's massively better. I did always like the intro on this one, too, how they get you into the world is really cool. Not sure if I will get sick of the open world, but so far, the replay is faring better than the original play through.

I know nothing about emulating but I can do some research on it. I may check my PS4 and see if it does. But up to this point, I have not seen a port of it, even digitally.
My son, I haven't played it yet, said that the Wii U was the perfect console to play Arkham City on. He said, unlike BotW, the Wii U gamepad was ingeniously used to interface with all of Batman's tech that was much better than Arkham Asylum which we both played on the 360.

I did some quick Googling, and apparently Redream is an easy and popular Dreamcast emulator. You just need a computer from the last however many years. The Wii U is also apparently a really good emulation machine if you jailbreak it, but I don't know anything about how to do it, and I would afraid to brick mine if I messed it up. Anyway, just a path! I do wish more third party developers took advantage of the Wii U gamepad in a smart way. Shoot, I wish Nintendo did! I read that they were going to for BotW but ended up disabling the functionality to make it "equal" with the Switch version, Not cool! And yeah, I played through Asylum and City on XBOX 360 originally and am currently playing through the PS4 remasters. **edit** Looks like SOTN was on Saturn, not Dreamcast. My bad! Still worth looking into.

I'm big into emulation, although the Saturn is my least favorite emulated console. As of maybe five to ten years ago, there was really only one Saturn emulator worth trying - SSF. I did get it working for the one Saturn game I wanted, but it was a little more painful than most emulators to set up. I see that Retroarch has a Saturn core now (Retroarch is kind of a front-end/launcher for different emulators, which they call cores). I don't know if their Saturn core is based on SSF or not. Anyway, if you need any help with emulation, I might be able to help (on PC anyway, I've never run emulation on a console).

I did some reading, and apparently the Saturn version of the game had performance issued compared to others, so unless you really want that content, might be worth the PSX version anyway?
Drake I might take you up on some emulation advice. There's like 1 Playstation game I want to play, but I don't have time to fuss about with settings.

I'm a compulsive documenter, and I've tried lots of emulators, so I've got some answers, I'm sure. BTW, the PSX version of SoTN is what I setup for myself. I wasn't aware that the Saturn port has content not found elsewhere, or I might have went for that. Like so many games, I barely got started on it, so I might look into using the Saturn version when I finally get around to a serious play-through.

Yeah it's not a terribly big priority to play. I just really like SOTN. I do have the PS1 disc and can play it on the PS3 and also have the digital download on the 360, PS4 and can play the 360 download on my Xbox1 as well. I like the game a lot. Thanks for the info Drake. I appreciate the offer of help if I ever decide it's worth it.

OK, spent more time with Arkham City, got some more thoughts. Its technical superiority over Asylum remains completely uncontested. Huge upgrade in every way. That said, I am beginning to remember some of why it didn't wow me quite as much.
It started to feel A LOT more video game-y than Asylum. In Asylum, you WERE Batman dealing with an issue on a night. There were side things like Riddler trophies, but it wasn't intrusive or distracting. In City, there's so much more arbitrary stuff to do just to have stuff to do. Augmented Reality trainings. Side missions, etc. I guess to a degree that is just modernization and adding things to do, but I feel like I am seeing the man behind the curtain more than in Asylum, which felt more like jumping into Batman's world for a while.
No, not the man behind the curtain. I am seeing through the fourth wall. Seeing the video gameness. I'm playing a Batman video game now intead of being Batman for a while.
Not to say I'm not enjoying it. It's really good, and the control and movement and combat are so much better. Also man, this game is a lot harder!

Really tempted to buy a Sega Mega Drive. It was one of my favourite consoles, and I read some reviews of Mega Drive games recently. eBay does have some consoles, but they are quite cheap. Too good to be true? It's one of mine too, only bested by the Gameboy. If you do get one, be sure to get a six button controller and a flash cart. The latter is a must have. All you need is a micro sd card and you can play pretty much every game that ever graced the console. Including Master System games

Thank you, I wasn’t aware of that. It’d be great to play some Master System games. As a kid, it seems all of my friends were into NES and/or SNES. And I am glad I got to play on those consoles, but nothing could pry me away from the Mega Drive and Master System. So, Batflunkie, which sounds better: Genesis or Mega Drive?

I didn't actually get to play much of the NES or SNES until I stumbled across emulation. I love the NES to pieces for the sheer variety of games it had. SNES, while a fine system in it's own right, really doesn't do it for me in the same way the Genesis/Mega Drive does because it has less of the types of games that I like So, Batflunkie, which sounds better: Genesis or Mega Drive? I kind of like both if you can believe it

Everyone is going to go bonkers over the PS5 this holiday season, but I can't remember the last time I wasn't that hyped for a major console release. I'm a PS guy, but the launch titles just seemed meh. Perhaps it's just me getting older, and also that I still have a boatload of PS4 games to start playing. But yeah, I'd definitely wait 6 months to maybe another year when more games with development teams used to the new system are announced, and also the initial storage space upgrading for the system is resolved. Spider Man Miles Morales is the only thing that seems interesting to me at the moment. I know there was a trailer for the next FF game, but I remember it being a blur.

I have never ever been up on the new consoles, but it seems like we're hearing more early reports about technical issues with the PS5 than has happened for any previous system. Maybe that's just my anecdotal experience.
