Why did it take 50 or 60 years for someone to actually do it though? You live on that world and ridding the world of him/her would become the number one most prioritised mission ever. No moral grumbling either. We would demand it from our governments.

What I seem to be getting from this thread is a lot of "I hear tey've done this/are doing this/are going to do this, it sounds awful but I'm not actually reading it". That seems fairly redundant, to me. I'm reading it, BTW, and enjoying it. It's nothing spectacular, but it's a solid, well written story (so far).

I try to make it a point to state that I'm sure much of this stuff is well done from a technical standpoint, but I'm so against what Marvel's doing right now philosophically it cancels everything out. I'm a big fan of Alan Moore, but I don't have much interest in his recent H.P. Lovecraft stuff because he's intentionally subverting Lovecraft's themes. Once again, I'm sure it's excellently written, but thematically I just wouldn't enjoy it. I'm on board with subverting and distorting expectations with a creators original works, but not so much with established characters and themes.

Same here - not greatly sold on the concept, but so far the execution has been decent, and playing out a bit different that expected (albeit with unending spoilers from the like of Bleeding Cool)

I'm not interested in the main event itself - I hated the original, this one it seems like a cash-in for the movie, and the first two issues did nothing to entice me, but the few tie-in issues for books that I'm following have been fun. The Ms Marvel issue from last week handled the "am I on the right side?" dilemma better than most tie-ins for Civil War I ever did.
