Sorry Hondo, but Conan didn't debut in the 70s-present, not even in comics. Thirties for his debut in Weird Tales, but 1952 for his debut in comics, Mexican comics, but still comics long before the 70s. -M I knew he had existed before Marvel did their version, but I didn't know about the Mexican version. Wow !

Anyone else kinda bummed that Wolverine has been "black-listed" by so many long-time fans? Yeah, I got sick of him too, but he was a truly great character up until Barry Windsor-Smith's brilliant Weapon X series. After that...the character just went all to hell with overexposure.
My short list would be: Dream/Morpheus, Punisher, Swamp-Thing, Cerebus, Howard the Duck, Conan (Marvel version), Wolverine, Storm, Nightcrawler, Colossus, Ghost Rider, Valkyrie, Huntress, Longshot, Captain Britain, Darkseid, Orion, Mister Miracle, The Celestials (sure I'm forgetting many)

The Love and Rockets characters - not only Maggie and Hopey, but so many of the supporting characters like Penny Century, Izzy, Ray, Terry ... and even some of the less prominent ones like Daffy. On Gilbert's side, there's Gorgo, Maria, Maria's daughters Fritz and Petra, Petra's young daughter Venus ... and that's not even getting into the Palomar characters. Daniel Clowes's Lloyd Lewellyn ... At DC it would be the Kirby characters like the Demon and OMAC, and the New Gods - Orion and Barda in particular, ... Well that saved me some typing. The only other DC characters I'd mentioned (as others did) are Kamandi and Ambush Bug. Also: Ms. Tree, Mr. Monster, and Wolverine McAllister.

You could argue that Warlock was created in the 60s, though he wasn't called Warlock until the 70s.
And Valkyrie's first appearance was in the 60s Avengers wasn't it? Of course she was actually the Enchantress, but the look and the costume were all in place right from the start.

Enchantress-as-Valkyrie appeared in Avengers #83, cover dated Dec. 1970 (on sale in Oct. 1970, Rutland-Halloween story). So it fits into the OP's specified timeframe.

Aww, c'mon mrp-give the guy a break. Yeah, I knew about Conan's early appearances and I think there was an American comics pastiche in the mid-1950s. But yeesh-your just showing off It was actually someone from the forums (I think Rob Allen but memory is fuzzy, it may have been here or at the old place) who first turned me on to the Mexican Conan comics. -M
