Howard the Duck has been mentioned by a few people, myself included.
I don't get some of these - e.g. the original Defenders? the team was put together in the 70s but the individual members were all established characters from the 60s.

Even though the Hulk, Dr Strange & Namor all existed prior to the 70's the team/concept of the Defenders was a 70's creation. Same with Freedom Fighters. All those characters were created in the 1940's for Quality Comics but were not put together as a team until the 70's as the Freedom Fighters. Both titles were some of my favorites! |

Two that immediately come to mind are: Alpha Flight and Firestorm Aaaahh! Love that clean Bryne & Perez art. They were my favorite artists in the 70's along with Marshall Rogers.... |
