I was more of a Marvel fan anyway, but I did read some DC. However, whenever I saw these Super-Son covers, I literally didn't even look inside the books. When I first started reading comics, I read what I found out was an "imaginary story" and I felt cheated because I didn't see the point. So I definitely wasn't going to read Super-Sons. Sorry I missed the Dick Dillin art though. Just curious...did you read any Marvel What if? stories?

Haney never did understand the multiverse, but yeah, this was baffling. You'd think he'd at least claim it was the near future, or something.

I just got the complete Super Sons Stories Book and I quickly glance all the stories in that book and gave them a grade for each of the stories in order of World's Finest Comic Books & Elseworld too.
World Finest's
215 – C 216 – D- 221 – B 222 – D+ 224 – C 228 – C 230 – C+ 231 – B+ 233 – D 238 – D 242 – C 263 – C+
Elseworlds – C+
The best story that I like was World's Finest #231 of which the Son of Superman teams up with Green Arrow and the Son of Batman teams up with Flash.
The worst story that I found was World's Finest #216 of which both Batman and Superman trying to find their missing Sons and the cover was the most absurd cover ever - why Superman uses his X-Ray Vision to look inside that closet of which both Sons was encased in Ice!
I haven't read all of the stories yet - but I hope to do in the next 7-10 days from now.

My favorite is the one that involved Robin even though it still had a ridiculous situation that had the characters acting like jerks.

I hope to review one more story before I leave for vacation...
One observation. I am totally dumfounded at the number of people that the Sons let die (so far) & nobody seems to care how bad they are as heroes!

Little Town with a Big Secret. The Super Sons ride into a town called Barstow. Barstow is a weird town. A child is told to behave or the Iceman will get him. A milk truck is filled with liquid nitrogen. A waitress starts crying about her dead boyfriend. Clark & Bruce get attacked while in the diner. Later a mile outside of town they change into Superman Jr & Batman Jr & go back into town. Superman goes to see where the milk truck went & Batman discovers no one has died in the last 4 years. They change back & get arrested. They are put in jail. They break out & Superman Jr discovers an underground missile silo where Barstow's missing people are in cryogenic capsules. When the Iceman attempts to freeze the waitress Supes Jr steps in. In one panel his powers as half Kryptonian are revealed. He can't fly. He can leap 100 miles. He is vulnerable to atomic weapons. He can only survive 3 days without air. He is frozen by the Iceman. Meanwhile Batman Jr finds out that an alien family had landed there & were living there until their ship can "autorepair itself by 1994". Because of the town's fear of them a struggle breaks out & the aliens are killed. One of the town people decides to freeze people until 1994 so he can take all of the spaceship's treasure for himself when it completes "autorepairs". However he has miscalculated & the spaceship has completed repairs & launches. Then Clark & Bruce thaw out everyone & the town returns to normal. They move on to their next adventure. And a chance for some thoughts. I'll agree that it's a bit better. Definitely aided by the lack of the Super-Parents. And aided by Murphy Anderson's inks over Dillin. Oh look...the heroes snipe and almost fight with each other...that clearly equals characterization. Missile Silos are coated in lead. Bwah-ha-ha!! As MD points out it's pretty ridiculous that Clark Jr. can be frozen given his powers. On the plus side he played fair and announced exactly what his powers are. They have interstellar travel...but they can't calculate how long it will take their ship to repower. And, of course, our heroine suffers from Lois Lane syndrome. The appearance in town of two separate sets of strangers...both of whom are young men...can't possibly be collected.

Thanks for informing this and I will wait another week to think about World Finest #231 of how I liked that story so much with pictures and all the goodness with it. Most Importantly, Congratulations of being married for 32 years!

Me least favorite story of the lot is the one in which all four of the superheroes aid and abet the kidnapping and torture of an innocent men (either directly or through inaction). Even as a little kid that storyline horrified me.

The more I think about World's Finest #216 the more I think that the town was really stupid. They were trying to cover up a murder. But the definition of murder is the killing of a human being. Aliens are not human beings and thus you cannot murder them.

Unless you believe in the concept of in-alienable rights These issues reminds me of the time I thought most DC comics were just pure juvenile crap and therefore was a Marvel fan (and Warren magazines) . In retrospect there were some good DC books but the pickin's were mighty slim

Teenage Ish would have given you a Marvel Zombie arguement
