Amy chose Rory over the Doctor and lived another 60+ years. Saying she sacrificed her life is a little off the mark, I think. Rose chose the Doctor and was then stripped of her choice. I was much more upset by Amy's departure, but it's almost entirely for the Doctor's loss, and I don't think it's more devestating than "Doomsday". Maybe I misinterpreted the episode. I thought that when she let the Angel take her, she wound up in the same place that Rory and the others did, where they fed off her until she died. No: the tombstone shows they made it to their 80s, and there's a deleted scene that you can find animated online in which Rorys dad gets a Back to the Future type letter saying they were happy and adopted a kid.

I caught the dates on the tombstone, but I made the assumption that was after being fed on by the Angels. As I was not aware of the deleted scene (still a very new Whovian am I), this puts everything in a different perspective; not that the ending is any less emotional for me, but it's a lot less sad now.

there's a deleted scene that you can find animated online in which Rorys dad gets a Back to the Future type letter saying they were happy and adopted a kid. It's called P.S. and it was written by Chris Chibnall. It's actually quite a beautiful and powerful scene and it's a shame it was never actually filmed. At least Arthur Darvill was able to record a voice over. I liked Brian, too bad he wasn't around longer.

I've been watching Who since the 70's, but I didn't know about that scene; there's always something new out there. Nice little scene that adds some closure.

I found her an annoying Mary Sue who could do everything the Doctor the could, only better. (She can pilot the TARDIS better than him? Really??) And the fact that she seemed to know ever single thing that was going happen before it did? Irritating. But apparently a lot of fans who came to the show with the new series really like her. I never really got that, lots of people pilot the the TARDIS better than the Doctor, he's admitted several times that he doesn't really know what he's doing half the time, and she was a companion from the future so again it made sense that she'd have some advance information. And again, I know lots of older fans who didn't have an issues so it really isn't a clear cut, new/old divide but rather a simple personal preference just like any other companion.

Weeping Angels' victims are their source of nourishment, but they don't feed on people. They send their victims to a time pre-dating their birth and then feed off the "potential" present day life force left over by them being sent back.

After not caring for the first issue of the 10th Doctor comic I never looked back, but the WWI cover looked neat and I love the Weeping Angels so I decided to pull the trigger and I'm glad I did as the story was fantastic. How are the other titles?

Just bought the Matt Smith seasons from Best Buy, using a gift card I got for Christmas to pay for part of it. I couldn't believe how inexpensive (or, more accurately, how deeply discounted) these were; season 5 was regularly priced at $74.99 and they were selling it for $19.99. All told, I got the three seasons on Blu-Ray for $75, while the regular DVD sets were priced at $64.99 each with no discount.

Were the 11th and 12th doctor issues any good? If so are they in the middle of a story or could one just jump on?

I'd say you're fine skipping it. The TARDIS is there and that guy people call The Doctor wears a bowtie, but it doesn't feel like Doctor Who.

I haven't read the others. I picked up the 10th Doctor one recently as a Doctor Who story set on the western front with weeping angels sounded cool and it was pretty decent but the others didn't grab me. I tried all three when they first came out and disliked them, but decided to revisit the tenth as it said new story and I'm in Doctor Who withdrawals so it hit the spot

I'm still getting it, because I keep hoping it'll start to feel like Doctor Who eventually. They are not good comics, though. And those strips at the end are legitimately bad.
