Baker had hoped for a darker outfit but of course, that isn't what he got. I believe he's been depicted in a blue outfit though I'm not sure for what media - Baker has done quite a bit of Doctor Who audio and there are novels, but I can't imagine what point a change of garb in those formats would matter. The blue coat originally came from the animated BBC webcast Real Time produced by Big Finish, it was later released as an audio story on CD by Big Finish with some extra scenes where the blue coat is referenced as being a "mourning coat". (It has since featured on some other Big Finish CD covers.) I think the original purpose was that a blue coat was easier to draw for the Real Time animators than the multi-coloured one. The blue coat worked for me in the animated story as it was a nice change from the abomination the Sixth Doctor had to wear on the TV... but then again, the Big Finish Sixth Doctor audios are way better than the Sixth Doctor TV stories for me anyway.

I'm just starting to get into the Big Finish audios. Which audios of the Sixth Doctor would you recommend?

The Marian Conspiracy, The Apocalypse Element, Jubilee, The One Doctor, Davros, The Reaping would be a good start to the Sixth Doctor in the Big Finish Doctor Who Main Range... but Colin Baker is my favourite audio Doctor as he has had so many top notch audio stories, the list of good stories is a long one.

I've been watching the reboot series with my five year old in the last couple of months. He's just at the right age to say "It's too scary!" and then go hide behind the couch to finish watching. K-9 is a favorite of course. My son has been waiting for the Ood episode for some reason, and it's up next.
The main thing I noticed on this run-through was how Amy Pond's character arc is an expanded version of "The Girl in the Fireplace" episode. I am convinced that in both cases, the story is an allegory of kids like Moffat (and everyone around his age in Britain) who were Doctor Who fans during the original run and then grew up while waiting for the Doctor to come back.

Thanks for the suggestions! The most I've heard about Baker's audios is the one phase where, I think, a former companion of McGann's ends up traveling with Baker for awhile and so they had to be conscious about not hinting to Baker about his future or something? If that's right, I thought that was a neat twist on the typical relationship. On my daily job nowadays, I'm on the road driving between two cities for about an hour round trip. Since the new company car has a CD player, I figured, hey what better way to spend the time than by finally catching up on Big Finish side of things?

Yeah, Charley Pollard (played by India Fisher) was a companion of the Eighth Doctor from Storm Warning (#16) onwards, but after leaving Paul McGann's Doctor in The Girl Who Never Was (#103) she was picked up at the end by Colin's Doctor and travelled with ol' Sixie from The Condemned (# 105) where Charley had to try and keep her future travels a secret... that was fun! Catching up with the Big Finish side of things is well worth it as there's some great stories. Enjoy!

Missing Doctor Who episodes found! The Enemy of the World/The Web of Fear were found in 2013. They've been out on DVD for the last five years.

It seems like years since the end of the last Christmas special... I keep feeling like I've missed the debut proper of the female Doctor. Maybe the long wait time is to wear down those like me who are resistant to the idea? I know they probably do this every 'season' but with such short seasons I'm surprised they keep any audience outside of fans... out of sight out of mind. There's still one Web Of Fear episode lost presumed wiped, the first intro of 'the Brig' (though not yet a Brigadier). Sad about that early Morecombe And Wise being ruined though.

The gap seems particularly long this time. Part of that is because there was no proper 2016 season, so we went from Christmas '15 to Christmas '16, got a full season last fall(after Jodie Whitaker's casting was announced), then the '17 Christmas special...and now, the new season doesn't start til mid-October, and there seems to be less 'month before the season starts' buildup, because they had all the hype about JW joining the show LAST year! Wibbly wobbly timey wimey, poor woory promotiony-wotiony? It'll be ten months between 'regeneration' and 'first proper episode' for Whitaker...breaking the 'record' of nine months between Tom Baker regenerating, and Davison(who had just enough screen time in 'Logopolis' to sit up) getting on with it in 'Castrovalva'.
