Son of Satan Nighthawk Stingray I really liked those three, even if I had only seen Nighthawk and Stingray as guest stars in the incredible Hulk. I especially liked the way Nighthawk's cape was made to look like wings. Clearly it was only the look that appealed to me back then... heck, I even liked Captain Ultra! Shatterstar from the Inhumans book, too. Must have been the Perez look.

Shatterstar from the Inhumans book, too. Must have been the Perez look. Truth is that some of the B list had the coolest and best looking costumes going for them even if they only reflected the times when they were created. Falcon's red and blue with wings such a kick ass look. Nighthawk in the blue and gold with red wing styled cape. Stingray with the billowing under arm connect to legs billowing wings. Triton in his green scales with purple hydrating tubing connecting gloves/boots. Deathlok with his cybernetic body parts and half decomposed face. Nova in his blue and gold uniform. Metamoprho in his elementally differing body parts, Modok's big ass head, Dave Cockrum's Legion designs, Shocker's criss-crossed padded stitching with vibro-knuckles, Kid Flash's yellow/red, Wonder Girl's red jumpsuit, Deadshot's gun on wrist and telescopic eyepiece, Captain Cold in his parka, and even though they are A-list i have to give credit for how classy their dress attire is for Penguin and Joker. Style is king hahaha

Well I was fond of all the characters before Marvel used them in Annihilation Conquest, and GotG, except Groot. I hadn't read that Tales to Astonish issue and first saw Groot in the Star Lord mini of Annihilation Conquest. But Rocket, Bug, Star Lord (he's B-list yeah?), Capt Universe, and Mantis were all characters I liked and were familiar with. As far as GotG, they added Drax, which I would say even in with his present metamorphosis he's a B-lister. Cosmo to some degree but he wasn't really that old of a character by the time he appeared in GotG.
The In-Betweener is another favorite. I liked the random things that he would appear in both cosmic (Silver Surfer, Warlock, Thanos Quest) and mystical (Dr Strange).
Edit: Jack of Hearts and Legacy were pretty cool too. I'd seem them a lot in Silver Surfer when I was reading it. I also like Terrax and Morg, both former Galactus hearlds, if they be considered b-listers.

Cosmo to some degree but he wasn't really that old of a character by the time he appeared in GotG. I liked the original Yondu. I liked him much better in the first GotG team than in the movie. No disrespect to Michael Rooker's (or Mr Svenning as I know him by) acting, I just didn't like the changes they made in the character for him to fit in to the movie and be able to use him. I thought it didn't real right and they could have just created a character for Rooker's role in relation to Star Lord. Before I pressed "create post" I checked and I didn't know that Marvel brought Yondu to Earth 616 in the comics too. So ... but my dislike still stands. I like 31st century Yondu.

Classic Yondu had such a stylish and unique look about him that would translate well and show his being an alien and yet humanoid and recognizable in a movie. If you like a character enough to want to use him in a movie why change him so much? Just to use the name as a recognition factor so comic book readers watching will go ooooh aaahhhh is stupid. That was the 70's 80's and 90's when comic properties were bought and butchered and kept little to nothing of the comic in the movie. Goes the same with all the "tweaks" to make something look more stylish just because it is a big budget movie. Screw that: put the X-Men into costumes. Christopher Reeve showed he was Super, not the damn suit! Give me primitive Yondu the bow man and his outstanding dorsal fin and i would be ecstatic.

I'm a bit surprised to see hondobrode put both Hawkman and Shazam as Second-Stringers? ... I've been thinking of that for the past day or so.

I'm not sure if Green Arrow counts as a second-stringer (if you'll pardon the pun), especially these days, but he is a favourite of mine.
A few others B-list (or lower) favourites:
DC: Zatanna, Black Canary, Huntress (especially the Helena Wayne version), Dawnstar (obviously), Jonah Hex, Cinnamon, Stargirl, Starman (Jack Knight), Scare Tactics
Marvel: Silver Sable, Songbird, Nico Minoru, Longshot, Dazzler
And many more I'm probably forgetting.

I find 'B' heroes can often be allowed more development, thus making the books more interesting.... New Warriors under Fabian Nicenza was like that.. the characters really 'grew up' as the title when on.

Outside of Superman, a lot of my faves are probably more C or D listers, if not lower. Gangbuster, Thorn, Great Lakes Avengers, Inferior Five, Angel & The Ape, Elongated Man, Sue Dibny, Alpha Centurion, Janissary, Global Guardians, Omega Men...
There was Black Panther, but now he's probably A-list.

Lots of people don't know Hawkman, and believe me, way more people than you think don't know Shazam. I took my ex-wife's son trick or treating years ago as Captain Marvel / Shazam and hardly anyone knew who it was, young or old. It absolutely blew my mind.

In my area they are really unknown in the late 80's to the early 2000's and having said that many of the people that are younger than 35 don't know who they really are. I just dumbfounded that many of my friends don't know what I'm talking about until I pull out an old comic book in the store that I go to. That's why many of my friends from 35 to 55 put them in the B list group and I happen go along with them. It can go either way ... depends on who you are talking to.

Incredible, I'm stunned to read this and I just can't imagine no one knows the Big Red Cheese! ... I know Hawkman since I was 6 and I'm really surprised to read that a lot of people don't know him at all ... hondobrode!
