I watched the pilot of Enterprise last night (glad Trek is still on Netflix, but I suspect it’ll all migrate away soon?). I think it’s better than the pilots for TNG, DS9 and Voyager, but it hardly set my world alight. It was solid at least, and I liked how it established human/Vulcan relations. All the characters were credible. I haven’t seen the rest of the series (I watched the pilot on VHS years ago), so this is as good a time as any. No spoilers, please, but are they going to explain the look of the Klingons because given this is set 100 years before Kirk’s time, and Klingons looked different in TOS, I’d like to think this won’t be glossed over? I think they do at some point but I'm not sure. I am currently halfway thru season 2. There is an episode that explains the way TOS Klingons look and for a continuity porn kind of hand waive it's actually pretty decent. Me personally, I have no problem simply accepting that the budget was bigger for the motion picture and subsequent films and shows so that's why the Klingon look exolved over the years, but if you want an in universe reason season four's two part story Affliction should satisfy.

I recently finished watching all 3 seasons of Lower Decks.
I don't think I've laughed so hard in quite awhile. While you don't have be a Trekkie in order to appreciate the show, if you do know your Trek lore, this show is gold.

No plot-specific spoilers, please, but I’ll be watching all the newer Trek shows in due course, such as Discovery and its spin-offs. I’m a huge Borg fan, do they appear in any of the modern shows? I can never get enough of the Borg.

I want to see the Borg in Discovery and Strange New Worlds. I don’t care about the continuity now, I just want to see the Borg, my favourite Star Trek villains ever.

I read earlier that TNG was the first major show to go into syndication. I know what syndication is, but does anyone know why TNG was sent to syndication - was it as big a milestone as one writer claims?

Though I have no idea what he means by a "major show." The George Reeves Superman was a first run syndicated show. So I really don't know where that writer was coming from.

Thanks for the clarification, good to know that about The Adventures of Superman.
So much erroneous information out there.

I would say that it may have been somewhat surprising for ST:TNG to be released in first run syndication rather than on an existing network given the huge fanbase that Star Trek had grown over the years. But to say it was the first "major" show is nonsense.

But to say it was the first "major" show is nonsense. I believe that is what it was, Paramount had originally shopped it to ABC, CBS, NBC, and even fledgling at the time Fox, and felt they got lackluster responses and had something more valuable on their hands. So they switched gears to the first-run syndication approach which proved very successful and shook things up a bit, so notable for that time in that sense. But as you said, no, not the first.

As we all know, Brian Brophy (who doesn’t even have a Wikipedia page) played Commander Bruce Maddox in the TNG episode “The Measure of a Man”.
Depending on how comprehensive IMDb is, Brophy had 3 credits prior to that 1989 TNG episode. Since then, well his credits are semi-extensive, but he appears to have mainly played characters without names. He’s credited as a wine steward in one 1993 TV movie. Other credits include bank teller, crime scene photographer and military official.
He didn’t even return to play Maddox when the character showed up in Picard (John Ales played the role).
It seems a shame Brian Brophy didn’t go on to do some memorable things, after playing such a powerful guest character in TNG. His life is his own, and maybe he was/is happy with that. I’m just thinking out loud, so to speak. I was certainly disappointed that he didn’t return for Picard, John Ales just didn’t feel like Maddox to me, perhaps because of Brophy’s strong performance.
I just would have liked to have seen more of him.
(And isn’t Picard great, eh?)

Vulcan make-up can often disguise an actor well. Watched the Enterprise episode “Fusion” last night - and couldn’t quite place one actor during the pre-credits scene despite his voice being familiar,
Thankfully, after the credits, the name ROBERT PINE came up.
After I watched the episode, I looked up some trivia: so, Robert Pine is the father of Chris Pine. I never made that connection despite the surname.
I’m on a forum filled with TV aficionados - and no-one thought to inform me of that? As Shatner’s character said in Airplane II, why the hell aren’t I notified about these things?!
