Wonder Woman Gal Gadot 2017 MovieI have a dear friend of mine who sent me this picture via e-mail this morning and this is the first team photograph of the Wonder Woman Movie that's coming out in 2017. He warned me that this photograph is somewhat unofficially but he got it and I wanted to share it with all of you here and I hope you'll enjoy seeing it. Wonder WomanParadise Island

After so many bad DC movies, my expectations are pretty low, so I would like to be pleasantly surprised, but I'm not optimistic after seeing the teaser footage.

I was think about the change they made (Wonder Woman First appearing in the First World War rather than the Second) and felt that it was a mistake at first. However, I started thinking about it and saw several advantages to the alteration. The Fact that the world was a bigger place back then, It took longer to get from America to Europe to Asia to Paradise Island etc... Also News and Information was mostly restricted to the Newspapers Even radio was a comparatively new medium at the time (Most recorded broadcasts that survive to this day are from the mid thirties and later) Those things make it easier to believe that Wonder Woman could operate during the War and not be re- membered in present day. (If she had operated during World War II there would have been more evidence of her presence such as News Reels comic books, Radio Reports etc...) The second is the reusability of Chris Pine as the decendant of his character from the first film. In the Wonder Woman TV show Lyle Waggoner plays Steve Trevor in WWII and his son Steve Jr. in the 70's. In the New movies DC is putting out There's a whole century between Wonder Woman and BvS/Justice League That's a good Six or so generations later. It seems a lot more plausible now that a person could more closely resemble an X-Times Great grandfather than they could a parent.

I have very very limited understanding of Wonder Woman. I want to get into the Perez issues (I find the Silver Age/Bronze age stuff looks a little campy) but it is just so low on my list. I am sure someday I will get to it but until then, I will be kind of a blank slate when I do see this movie.
DC is at rock bottom as far as I am concerned. Superman was zero interest for me (although I heard it was okay), and Batman/Superman was so poorly received that I skipped it. I did see Suicide Squad because they nailed the promos and trailers and I hoped they would nail the film too but alas, they did not. For me, DC is batting 0/3 so I will also have low hopes. The trailers look intriguing enough where I will probably see it but I just don't think DC has a good handle on their cinema right now. It is kind of hard to spit out a really good movie when the films you started building with are all B and C grade at best.

I think there is a lot riding on the WW movie for DC/WB. I am HOPING it is great. If it isn't it won't be because of Gal Gadot. She was the best part of Batman V Superman.

Watched the trailer! Loved it! DC really needs this movie to succeed. I hope it does...

I'm actually interested in seeing this after watching the trailer, which is amazing, because I haven't watched a DC character-based movie since the second Nolan Batman movie.

I feel the other way to be honest. I thought WW came out fairly undamaged from the trainwreck of Bat-obsessive v Stupidman, but after that trailer... my interest in the character is trending towards zero. The WW1 setting doesn't help, neither does the inclusion of the insipid Steve Trevor, who has always been one of the weakest points in the WW series, for me - I could never understand why this Amazon demo-goddess would be interested in Captain Boring.

Can't wein 'em all, but the producers will be able to say "we failed with Simon but succeeded with Roquefort". I am really excited by the WWI context and by the idea of an Amazon visiting the extremely patriarchal world of the early XX century.
I believe Diana's weapons and skills are more suited to WWI's trench warfare than to WWII's heavily mechanized battlefields. Looking at the trailer, it doesn't strike me as odd to see her using a sword and shield against bayonets and single-shot firearms. Making the whole thing a period piece is also very much to my personal taste!
Agreed on Steve Trevor's basically bland character... but perhaps that gives the director the chance to build an interesting Trevor, seeing as he's pretty much a blank, beige canvas right now!

Like many things and characters, I thought the animated guys did a superb job with Steve Trevor, in the Savage Time two-parter, with Patrick Duffy voicing him. he was strong and capable and charming. You could see Wonder Woman liking the guy and falling for him.
