I know Shax doesn't like any negatives about other places, so I'll just say that I'm sad about the new CBR (which apparently is trying to get away from being 'Comic Book Resources' and just CBR).. but the look and the content are not for me. It actually very much reminds me of when Newsarama changed from being a comic news/review forum to a pop culture click farm.
Anyway, I was wondering where other people go to get comic news and such these days? I'm not a big fan of Bleeding Cool, and Comic Beat is OK for what it is, but isn't really news, mostly opinion.
What else is out there?

Well you're not talking trash, so it's okay.
One possibility is to identify what you miss about CBR and help to build it here. I have zero interest in new Big Two comics so I truly have no understanding of what CBR ever had to offer beyond the Classic Comics section and a few impressive columns, but if it's something we can do here, and we have people willing to do it, I'm very happy to give you the space.

Yeah, there are no really good comic book sites as that isn't enough to draw people. Just as comic book shops are a thing of the past you have to accept that the internet sites are trying to cover "everything" that is part of the niche. Comics Alliance and Cosmic Book News are going the way of CBR/Newsarama with too damn many pop ups and ads.
Alternatives that aren't ad heavy are Den of Geek and Geeked Out Nation. both cover comics, movies, television, wrestling, anime, toys and such but both don't post very much. Usually you can check them once or twice a week and see what is happening. At least the other topics they cover are well done and interesting for the most part.

That's actually pretty easy. The main thing I read on CBR was the columns.... Brian Cronin's stuff is pretty good, then there's the Pipeline, Brian Hibbs, 'The line is Drawn'. Less so, the reviews. I LOVE reviews, but sadly CBR's had been pretty crappy of late... really I miss guys like Augie (who used to review LOTS of stuff) and Randy Lander doing 8-10 reviews a week of what was coming out.. I doubt that's ever coming back. The thing is, I can't really see myself going to all those people's separate sites/blogs/whatevers on a regular basis... It's just not what I do . While I'd love the thought of bringing some of them here, it's a very different animal, and we don't get the clicks. *sigh* The internet makes me sad sometimes.

Comics Alliance has their share of pop-up ads and such but I do like their opinion section, they have some interesting articles/thoughts on the current hot topics facing the industry like racial diversity and female equality. I really enjoy Chris Sims' column/blog, he recently finished a review of the Electric Blue Superman era which was informative and entertaining (and succeeded in it's purpose, making me want to read the actual issues).
I don't like the new CBR format either. I have little interest in previews/spoilers of the Big Two which seems to be a huge focus nowadays. From what I gather, trying to fathom through all the pop articles to find the real meat of work like Cronin's blog and Robot 6 has become more difficult.
*sigh* Oh well.

I miss the old fourthrail.com.

If you want reviews of current books, you probably should try Comic Book Roundup. They aggregate reviews from all over the internet (they are selective about who they link, so the reviews are from reputable sites/blogs, not just from some random guy who submits things to them after putting them up on his Facebook page), so you can get a wide range of opinions on books that you're interested in (and you might even run across something written by a charming and debonair fellow who reviews Captain America from the Beginning for this here site )

I will miss CBR columns also. I miss the old fourthrail.com. YES!!! I couldn't remember the name, but that's the one! IIRC, the guys that did that went all the way back to rec.art.comics in the usenet days.

Comic ROundup looks pretty good...A little sterile, but I think that's what you get these days. Thanks!

I was a CBR-front page reader for years before I ever ventured to the forums. I am also saddened by the focus on movies and clickbait. But that's where the world is moving, I guess. I think this is a good article on the topic, which also points to some paths foward. www.pipelinecomics.com/the-end-of-big-comic-book-journalism/Augie's color-coded guide to the CBR front page summarizes the problems in a single image. EDIT: Also, it's where to find Pipeline now.

For about the last year I have been fine tuning my "interests" on my google news feed page so the suggested for you section culls comic related headlines from websites all over the web, and it has become my main source of keeping an eye on what is current comic news. I still look at Bleeding Cool for headlines every few days, but not as often as I used to. My wife has a few comic sites "liked" on her facebook page as well, so her feed gets a lot of sampling of stuff and a lot of the people in our local comic convention/self-publishing community are active in finding and sharing comic related news (several of the lcs in the area share comic news via their facebook pages as well) so we are in a position where the comic book news comes to use rather than us having to seek it out. We can sort through what interests us and ignore the rest without having to sort through all the clickbait sites out there that have the veneer of comic news sites. Many of the creators I am interested in have newsletters I get as well, and either they include links to announcements of their projects or offer advanced heads up when and where to look for those announcements as well.
So my news source for comics is a curated experience. I really don't think there is a one stop shopping stop for comic news that is both reliable and readable these days (I long for the days when the weekly Comic Buyer's Guide was my one stop source for news but those days are long over).
As for columns-yeah the only one I seek out now is Tilting at Windmills because it offers such a unique perspective and I just bookmarked it's new home.
I think the thing of it is that the comic book industry (not the industry that has grown up around comics culture) is too much of a niche industry and has too small a core audience to make a site devoted to just comic book news viable in the current market as a for profit venture, and so you see more sites focusing on comic culture rather than comic books themselves. The same thing happened to the rpg industry about a decade ago, except gaming culture was more focused on video games and mmorpg rather than tabletop/print games so there was no residual base left to save any portion of gaming news/industry news outside of one independent forum that also hosted some news bits. It's entropy in effect.

I generally get my comic news from my LCS, Previews, and various Youtube videos (Fatman on Batman, Geekvolution, Comicbookgirl19, Amy Dahlen, Comicpop, etc.).

The Outhouse started as a bunch of posters from Newsarama. (posters I generally hated with the fury of a trillion burning suns, but I digress...) For comics news these days, Bleeding Cool is probably now my first stop for the news of the day. If I want news on tv shows or movies I just go to Deadline Hollywood.
