Star Wars: Poe Dameron #6 PLot: a pretty by the numbers resolution to the prison planet story line, that continues to move Poe towards the spot he's in at the beginning of The Force Awakens . I expect they'll be able to get maybe 3 more such story lines out of it (if Sales warrant) to get it around the same 24-ish issues they seem to favor. Next up, there's a spy (since Poe had competition at the prison from the First Order). Really, the most interesting part of the issue was it established why BB-8 is actually a thing, and not just a marketing tool. Plot: 3/5 Art: 3/5 Overall: 6/10

All New, All Different Avengers #14 First, a bit of a warning, this book has almost nothing to do with Civil War, and less to do with the All, New, All Different Avengers. In fact, no member of the team (Unless Nadia counts) is in the book. Really, this book is wrongly titled.. it's really The Unstoppable Wasp #0 . In that context, it's pretty good. We get some pretend Russians trying to deport Nadia, and her the the Original Wasp (whose house she's at), fight them off after Janet realizes they're fake.. they're from a group called W.H.I.S.P.E.R, which proves Mark Waid likes acronyms way too much. I assume they'll the uber bad guys in the new Wasp book. We also get a quick nod to Civil War... there's a new cast of the big fight (from Civil War II #5, I think?) and Nadia is horrified that Superheroes are fighting. She goes to her Microlab (which is awesome) and tries to fix it by making a dookicky to make Ulysses' powers work better.. which blows up. Janet gives her a little pep talk, and we're all ready to go for Unstoppable Wasp #1. Plot: 2/5 (4/5 for a Wasp story.. points off for deceptive Marketing) Art: 3/5 (just started Marvel fare) OVerall: 5/10

Plot: 3/5 Art: 3/5 Overall: 6/10 Poe was the only new Star Wars book I didn't care for. I tried the first two issues and just couldn't make myself care about him or his quest and although serviceable the art wasn't memorable either. Basically, this falls into the realm of Star Wars comics that tell stories that didn't need to be told; we got everything we needed to know about Poe's quest in the movie so seeing it beat for beat when we know the conclusion just saps it of any tension. If they were going to do an interesting pre-Force Awakens comic they should have done another one like the Road to Force Awakens book, perhaps focusing on the rise of the First Order out of the ashes of the Empire like the other book showed us a little of what the OT heroes did after Return of the Jedi.

I agree 100% Road to Force Awakens was far more interesting than Poe's series has been so far. I stuck with it this long because I thought it was a mini series... now that it isn't, I'll give the next storyline an issue to grab me, then it's probably history.
I'm pretty excited about Doctor Aphra getting a series though, she's by far the best Marvel creation so far.

That's surprising to hear, after the last issue of Darth Vader I thought that was it for Aphra. Is it a prequel into her past, or does she survive? I'll have to track down a solicit.
