Circle of Blood is a simple read, its the artwork that is really worth picking it up.

I typed "Die Small, Die Big!" as Frank Robbins's best work. And then I double-checked and discovered that Frank Robbins didn't write it, Robert Kanigher did. But you'd have to start sifting through a lot of war comics, Easy Co., The War that Time Forgot, the Metal Men, and so on and so on before you could name his best series, then you'd still have quite a task picking his best single story.
He wrote the first Poison Ivy story, don't forget.
Not to mention Lady Cop!

just like Jeopardy of course when put to the test to think is when the brain stalls. After you lose then things pop into your head soon after...
Mike Grell: Warlord and Jon Sable
John Ostrander: Suicide Squad
Ostrander and Tim Truman: Grimjack
Fred Hembeck: Hembeck
Gary Friedrich Mike Ploog: Ghost Rider: the iconic look and original story started it all
Gene Colan: known for so many artistic runs but will always be remembered for Tomb of Dracula
Frank Miller: always going to be known for Dark Knight for better or worse
Howard Chaykin: American Flagg
Roy Thomas: forever shall hold the Sword of Conan the Barbarian for without him never would the comic's adapted version begun.
Dave Cockrum: Legion of Super-Heroes: his designs and enthusiasm brought the Legion truly into the future.
Berni Wrightson: Swamp Thing
George Perez: Crisis on Infinite Earths and Avengers versus Justice League: nobody would have or could have attempted this and been able to pull them off so beautifully.
Carmine Infantino: The Flash
C.C. Beck: Captain Marvel
Gene Roddenberry: Star Trek
George Lucas: Star Wars
And i am sure more will drop into my brain unbidden with time....

As with the favourite song by a band, I can change my mind about some of these on any given day, but at the moment:
Steve Gerber: Man-Thing
Steve Englehart: Doctor Strange
Gene Colan: Nathaniel Dusk
Mike Ploog: The Mirrors of Tuzun Thune
John Buscema: The Avengers (George Klein inks)
John Byrne: Iron Fist (Frank Chiaramonte inks)
George Perez: The Avengers (Pablo Marcos inks, 1st Shooter run)
Frank Miller: Sin City

As much as I love Howard the Duck and Man-Thing, I think I'd put down Daredevil for Steve Gerber. He wrote about 20 issues in 1973 and 1974 that are pure Bronze Age Magic!

How could I forget about The Defenders? I have moments where I think this issue is the best comic book of the whole Bronze Age.
