Steve Ditko: The Question I haven't read the Ditko Question stories in a while, but just today I remembered the one where he's fighting some crooks in a warehouse or something, and keeps switching back and forth from Vic Sage to the Question so the bad guys would think they were fighting two different people. That was great.

Gardner Fox : Kothar the barbarian, What? You might say. Who? Is that even a comic? No, it isn't (although one Kothar novel was adapted in the pages of Conan the barbarian). Kothar is the hero of a handful of short novels and novelettes, and they are unapologetically silly and unpretentious. they're also a whole lot of clean and minfless fun, just the way a silly sword and sorcery series should be. I like Kothar better than any other thing Fox has written. If I were Cei-U, I would summon the choice from the left field! Bought this back when dirt was new!

I think it's the only time it was published in the language of Voltaire.

Mine was from 1969, in the wake of the success of Conan; yours looks more like it's being pitched as sophisticated science-fantasy.

Yes it was, and as was common with translated works the artist had no idea what the book was about. I'm not sure he even had more than the title to work with!

I have one Kothar paperback that I picked up because it was Fox and had a good Jeff Jones cover (unlike the one above which, if it is Jones, must be very early). Never read it though; don't care for S&S.
