My credit card number was stolen. Yay! That's always a pain to get sorted out, but at least it happened a couple weeks before my card expired and I would have had to update everything, anyway. Joke's on YOU, fraudsters!

Joke's on YOU, fraudsters! Good timing, at least, but man I'm sorry. Nothing is better for rattling the old nerves than having some faceless stranger you've never met come within inches of ruining your life. Glad they weren't able to do much damage!

The 2020 mantra.

The 2020 mantra. Reminds me of the Marine Corps physical fitness test, for women. We had to pass the Marine Corps test for the first half of my midshipman time, in college, which was a 3 mile run, sit-ups in 2 minutes and pull-ups. The women had the same thing, except they had a "flex-arm hang" instead of pull-ups. They, basically, held their chin above the bar for as long as their arms would hold out. Looked pretty much like that cat. Around the midpoint of my training time, they decided that Navy ROTC midshipmen should be doing the Navy physical fitness test and not the Marine Corps. The Navy test was sit-ups in two minutes, push-ups in two minutes and a mile and a half run. Felt like a walk in the park after doing the Marine Corps one for so long.

Looked pretty much like that cat. I was disappointed when I discovered that they don't insist on dead-hangs for the pull-ups. They let you kip (rhythmic swinging), which obviously inflates the number you can do. 20 kipped pull-ups does not impress Crom. At least you can't kip push-ups.

I remember winning a badge in school for only one fitness thing... that hanging from a bar thing with your head above the bar, probably because I was always like the third smallest and youngest kid in my entire grade most of my life, not much to have to hold up there. I lasted forever on it. I got the 'gold' one of these... It's probably still in drawer someplace, the equivalent of the Arnold J. Rimmer swimming certificate? My brother had all colors of these things plus Chess competition patches. I do remember push-ups on finger tips, clap push-ups and fifty at a time in Karate school, not necessarily saying I did them though. I wonder if I could even do twenty five regular ones now... I would probably break something.

Hang in there, USA folks, and stay safe. I've read a lot of businesses are boarding up and closing early in anticipation of any shenanigans tonight. I'll be staying in with whiskey having already voted weeks ago.

Hey folks, on behalf of the mods and site admin can I please ask you all to refrain from posting comments relating to the U.S. election (regardless of your political affiliation). I realise that it's a subject that most of us feel very passionate and/or concerned about, but with things currently as tight as they are there's a concern that discussion here will get heated. So, for the sake of forum harmony and in order to preserve the CCF as a tranquil refuge from the political turmoil of the outside world, please refrain from posting election-centric or politically-themed comments. Thank you.
