and on a different tone:
Even tho it will just be my spouse and I tomorrow I do want to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving. (it's simply not safe to have anyone over, despite how desperate I am to see loved ones, or how much I really want to invite over a struggling friend so they are not alone tomorrow).
So from the ether, sending love and good vibes to my friend, some of my biological family, and all of my chosen family.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours, too, @bert!
I am dreading tomorrow a bit, because of what we may now be in for.
Dreading it even more because two of my siblings and their families, including some traveling from a distance, are gathering, 17 of them, in a not particularly large house.
Tried to talk one of them out of it, but she said, "We'll be careful."
Then was shocked that I said in response to her question, "Damn right I'm getting the vaccine!"
She said she wouldn't get it. Doesn't trust it because she once got sick after her flu vaccine.
I'm just hoping there won't be sad stories in a few weeks.

It's just my wife, the dog and I tomorrow (and we're still persona non grata with a bunch of her family because we are not going to the family gathering tomorrow). I worry for my mom back in CT, as she will be alone for the holiday (though my cousin is cooking for her and delivering a turkey dinner to her). I just hope people don't have reason to come to regret their decisions to gather for the holiday, though I know there will be many who do. -M

I’m still alive.
Happy Thanksgiving. Please don’t super-spread.

Have a great Thanksgiving U.S.A., however you are observing it (and yes, hopefully as safely as possible), there are still many things (and people) to be thankful for!

I'm thankful for all of the blessings I have in my life (with hopefully one more to come soon), especially the CCF.
Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Plenty to be thankful for, even in this annus horribillis that has been trying and difficult for everyone, especially for those whose lives have been ravaged by disease, unemployment, and so many other troubles.
However, I still see examples of those whose courage and grace have been inspirational. My sister, who has had a particualrly tough time of it recently, wrote to me yesterday, “I take one day at a time, as some days are sadder than other days… Life is so changed.” But, typical of her, she ended her message with words of thanks to everyone who has supported and helped her.
Her words have resonated with me since I read them last night. Such wisdom there. Life is always changing, and we all need the same patience, persistence and fortitude she has shown if we are to endure and transcend the pain and sorrow change often creates.
Even though life is changed for all of us in one way or another, there is hope on the horizon, as there always is if we look carefully enough. Sometimes it shines brightly, sometimes it merely glimmers, but it is always there to guide us.
May we never lose hope. Thanks, Pandora, for closing that box in time...
Happy Thanksgiving, friends!

Bought myself some belated birthday things. Nice to know that even at 31 I still have the active interests of a five year old

^^^ When I lost my first tooth, not only did the Tooth Fairy leave a quarter under my pillow, but they also left a Pokey! God, I loved that toy.

The Bullwinkle show was the last thing I could watch at home before going back to boarding school every week. It was like a lifebuoy.
"Oops! Wrong hat!" is an expression I use to this day whenever something unexpected happens!

The Bullwinkle show was the last thing I could watch at home before going back to boarding school every week. It was like a lifebuoy. "Oops! Wrong cat!" is an expression I use to this day whenever something unexpected happens! There's honestly too many variations of the show's name and look out there. Frankly it boggles the mind. I grew up with reruns Rocky & Bullwinkle on Cartoon Network and by that iteration, they had the theme of The Bullwinkle Show as the closing credits The show was both stupid as heck but had moments of brilliance thar mirror some of the best comedy acts of all time

I always liked the Mr. Peabody & Sherman bits best! "He can walk into any book, with his pony pal Pokey, too. If you've got a heart then Gumby's a part of you." Decent drummer Pokey... not a patch on our Sooty but well decent...
