Oh, okay, sorry. I’m quick to impatience, although I have made a promise to myself to take a long break rather than delete next time world events get me down. You’re okay with me, taxi. I’d even take a ride in your taxi around Piccadilly square while you overcharge me.

Yes, I know I have deleted my account twice. Not sure why that is relevant to the discussion. Yes, I have done it twice - I have zero patience in my life - but I did return twice. And the second time was due to frustration over world affairs. Taxi, I wasn’t referring you. Many have deleted their accounts over the years. But you’re the only wrestling fan that deleted their account um what?
mecha what? ? ?
tho I do get a chuckle every time I see threads started by "deleted"

HA. . I'm OLD (I think most of us here are in our late 40's-mid-50's or thereabouts).
but I got NO clothes this year. Not even socks (tho I gave some to my spouse. . a shirt too).
I got: 4 CD / Vinyl (ie: music related gifts) 3 Book related gits 3 BLU/DVD (film/anime film related gifts) 2 Amazon Gift Cards 1 food related gift (hot sauce samplers from my favorite company) 1 KISS face mask (so I guess that's still music related) & a Disney candy case from Tokyo Disneyland.

I don’t actually feel there should be a “report post” button on *any* forum as I’ve seen it misused, not when one can just send a message to a moderator or admin. I just want to pick you up on this and clarify something, in case it isn't clear to you or anyone else. The "report post" button does just what it says: it reports or flags a particular post to the site admin and moderating staff, so that we can decide whether further action is needed. It does not automatically get the author of the reported post in trouble or get them banned from the forum. The "report post" button is most often used to flag spambots or scam profiles, meaning that the mod team can quickly remove any dangerous or malicious posts from the forum. The second most common use of it is to flag something that might possibly break the forum rules, which we then look at as a team to decide an appropriate course of action. On very rare occasions it is used by people who feel that they are being directly insulted or abused in a post, but thankfully, that's rare at the CCF. I can assure you that there are no so-called "report wars" going on here. Such action would be completely transparent to the mod team, and the vindictive and combative nature of such a thing would clearly violate forum rule #1, meaning that the "report warrior" (if there ever was one) would end up being the one who was disciplined, not the person they had a grudge against. The report button is simply a quick and efficiant way of alerting the moderating staff to a potential problem. As such, it's a very useful and necassary tool. To not have it would make the community much less safe.

Okay, that does make sense. I wasn’t sure how a “report button” worked. I thought it might immediately limit a person’s posting ability or put them in “jail” for so many hours. I am not sure where that perception came from, so it’s on me, I know.
I do hope Beccabear67 returns soon.

The report button is simply a quick and efficiant way of alerting the moderating staff to a potential problem. As such, it's a very useful and necassary tool. To not have it would make the community much less safe. To expand upon this a bit further, the report tool does two critically important things: 1. It quickly and efficiently shows the mod team what the member is seeing. We are an all-volunteer team that cannot patrol every discussion on the site 24/7. When you hit the report button, you are saving us A LOT of work and helping us to crack down on a potential problem much quicker and before it can get out of hand. 2. It triggers a "snap-shot" of the offending post as it exists at that moment in time. If a member goes back and edits/revises/deletes it later, the mod team will still be able to see what it looked like when it was reported. I echo Confessor's point that the report tool does not automatically trigger discipline. It is a way of helping us to see potential areas of concern in the community so that we can decide how to proceed. And I'll also echo the point that several others have made here: we rarely ever discipline. Only when friendly warnings and respectful conversations about community expectations go repeatedly ignored and the health of the community is at stake. Reporting someone does not mean you are betraying them. The mods sometimes report each other's posts so that we can discuss potential issues with them. I've actually reported myself in the past when I wasn't sure whether I crossed a line in the midst of a heated discussion and wanted the team's input. In the end, we are all working towards the health of this amazing community so that we can all remain friends and enjoy posting here. Thanks for coming to our TED talk.
