Godspeed to the ducks, and thanks to state troopers for rescuing them: /photo/1 Here's hoping they didn't celebrate by going out for wings afterward.

Antiques Roadshow? Good man! I presume this is a U.S. version? Man, Antiques Roadshow on PBS was such a staple for me growing up along with re-runs of Keeping Up Appearances and Are You Being Served?
I've always had a fondness for history so watching the show was a wonderfully cozy experience

The Antiques Roadshow on Sunday nights is such a staple of British television and has been for decades. I've no idea, without looking, how long it's been running, but since the early 80s at least -- and quite possibly much longer. It absolutely is pure cozy, comfort TV and is well known among the British populace as being such. Long may it continue.
I do not, however, understand the lust that's being directed towards Fiona Bruce here. I mean, c'mon...I'm sure she's a lovely lady, but she really isn't much of a "looker". Ah well, different strokes etc.

Ah well, different strokes etc. Well, we were watching Seasons 32 and 33 and they were several years old. As for Fiona, she comes across as smart, classy, funny, and warm. Also, she wears sweater-skirt combos exceedingly well. What's not to lust over?
Cei-U! I summon the heightened libido!

RE: Fiona Bruce-- I agree...pleasant enough, but I wouldn't put her in the "db's" or "english rose" category.

Can memories just disappear? Can people have false memories?
Earlier today, a friend claimed I went on a ferry with him and some others years ago. Yet I don’t remember it. My memory is pretty good. I just don’t remember EVER being on a ferry.
He described a trip I took to Skegness. I remember that. A group of us went there. But I don’t remember being on a ferry, so either a memory of mine has vanished completely (scary!) or he’s having a false memory. Oh well…

Lots of things never make it form our short term memory into our long term memory (they get crowded out before they got processed because there is limited space in our short term queue to simplify the neuroscience). If it makes it to long term, it never disappears per se, but out ability to access it may do so for a number of different reasons, age and deterioration of neural pathways as others are constructed for new memories being a primary one. -M

Interesting. I wonder, if a human being could live to, say, 900, 1,000 or even 10,000, what would happen then?

I find now that I am 60 my wife & I remember/forget different things. I think it also depends on how important that experience is whether you remember it. I will recall something we did on vacation 30 years ago because it evokes good feelings. My wife doesn't remember mainly because she was so tired that vacation so I suspect she didn't enjoy the time as much as me. And vice versa. She will go on about a specific Christmas yet my memories of Christmases all run together so I don't remember specific years.

My brother is moving and he found something of mines that I thought was lost or stolen for over 20 years.

I registered with an online survey company that allows you to bank small amounts every time you do a survey. Sounds a good way to add to my income.
But I don’t think I’ll bother anymore. I know they want a wide demographic, but today, while attempting to do 3 surveys, I’ve got messages such as this:
“Survey declined. To ensure a wide range of respondents, your answers were declined.” Or something.
So prior to the surveys, you are asked what industry you are in, what your age is, what your gender is, etc. Maybe they have too many males in their forties, from my particular area, but it is tedious to keep being told you aren’t the particular demographic they require. When I say demographic, I am referring possibly to profession. You might get a question asking if you work in particular professions - and when I click “yes” or “no”, that’s when I get the survey declined message.
Perhaps these companies - who do have my personal details on file - should have a system where you are ONLY sent surveys that you can do. It gets boring clicking on a survey, spending 3-5 minutes answering questions, and then being told you aren’t the kind of respondent that they require.

I always stay away from these online things . I think it's a scam to steal your info.

If only these were real... I really want to see Tintin and the Colour Out of Space, myself. Ask and you shall receive, effendi!
