Fun, fun. Had to have a plumber out on a Sunday morning, as the basement drain backed up while we were doing laundry yesterday and I had 2-3 inches of standing water around the drain yesterday. Managed to plunge it enough to get the water to go down yesterday, but couldn't find the source of the back up to prevent it from happening again. It then backed up this morning with toilet water this time, so made the call for the plumber. Turns out there was a build up of some kind of black gunky organic powdery matter in the pipe form the house to the clean out drain outside that needed to be snaked out.
Alls well that ends well, as its fixed but the plumber's wallet is fatter and outs is thinner now.

My wife discovered Freya the walrus a few weeks ago. A young female, Freya liked to climb up on small boats to sunbathe. She visited all around the coast of the North Sea, and videos of her became popular worldwide. She's been near Oslo, Norway this summer, and yesterday the Norwegian authorities decided to "euthanize" her. My wife is devastated, and she's not alone. Wikipedia currently says "The decision to murder Freya was criticised by wildlife experts and every other sane human." I suspect that this line will be edited out of the Wikipedia page, but it reflects the way a lot of people feel. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freya_(walrus)

I'm always looking for ways to cut monthly expenses without cutting service I've heard about the Affordable Connectivity Program where, if qualified, reduces your internet monthly bill by about $30. I didn't think it applied to me since internet is part of a bundle deal I pay my provider each month But I sent them the application a few days back and just got word I was accepted and my bill will go down next month
My upcoming fear is kind of strange Social Security will be due a huge COLA increase next year due to this rampant inflation. Word is monthly SS payments could increase about 8%. I should be doing cartwheels about this except for 2 things No word yet about how much the mandatory monthly Medicare fee will go up Also, I've barely qualified for other programs that save me money such as the Rent Freeze program and food via SNAP Will the increase of Social Security kick me out of other programs? Will the net result be less than what I current get? I won't know until it all shakes out early next year

Hola, gang! I'm back from my little "staycation" at my sister's. We've been having such a good time, I ended up staying several extra days. I slept an average of 12 hours a night (amazing how much difference a comfortable bed makes), ate bad food (pizza, hot dogs, potato chips, cookies, Ice cream, etc), binge-watched some favorite shows (Antiques Roadshow, Finding Your Roots), smoked waay too much herbage, and didn't allow comics or my book to cross my mind even once. Now I'm fully rested and highly motivated, so watch out, universe, I'm comin' atcha!
Cei-U! I summon the new attitude!

Antiques Roadshow? Good man! I presume this is a U.S. version?

Antiques Roadshow? Good man! I presume this is a U.S. version? Nope. These were the BBC episodes.
Cei-U! I summon the most attractive Fiona Bruce!

Fiona Bruce, eh? *Sighs* I do have the show on more as “background noise” when doing my accounts or something. There are some creepy antiques about, they look haunted. No wonder some people get rid of them. As a kid, I was almost scared of something my grandparents owned: it was a mug shaped like a sailor’s head, the sailor was smiling in the most evil way. Antiques can be scary.
