The consistency point is interesting. I have never eaten a McDonalds outside the UK, but I know people who have. A friend of mine told me had one in Portugal, and it tasted the same. A couple of other folk have told me the same. On another topic, know what I find frustrating? I prefer Burger King’s burgers, but I prefer McDonalds’ fries. It’s a shame both outlets don’t open up next to each other. I could get my flame-grilled burger from Burger King, but then walk into McDonalds to get my fries. Incidentally, and maybe this is an example of the Mandela Effect, I once mentioned how I could have sworn that Burger King did milkshakes years ago (they don’t now, certainly not here in the UK). Some other people did. But then there have been others who claim they never did. Maybe someone here knows. I can't speak for the UK, but in the US, BK absolutely did and does still sell milkshakes. I don't know if they're any good, but they sell them.
I also prefer BK burgers, but McDs fries aren't as good as they used to be when they were fried in beef tallow.
Consistently crappy is not a good thing. Hey, they taste great. Sure, you know it's trash going down, but until it hits your stomach, it's all fun. Until it's not.

Meanwhile if I spent $11 at Taco Bell I could not eat it all in one sitting. But you can get rid of it in one s*itting.

On the taste and such food being crappy, well I would worry if a friend told me he was having McDonalds three times a week (and doubly worried if they were eating it daily), but as an occasional treat, it’s nice. I didn’t mind Wimpy, but I haven’t seen one in years. Seem to be very few good photos, although the Shropshire Star has one: Incidentally, I was surprised to learn that there was a Wimpy computer game:

I miss posts from The Gang of 5/6.
There. I said it. (I kind of miss that thread too, though I know why it's gone).

While I do enjoy the recent addition of the "meal" box from Taco Bell, I do lament the bean burritos not being under a dollar anymore. And to be frank, I consider cinnamon twists superior over Churros, mostly due to the nice hard crunch I try to limit my fast food consumption but I do enjoy a lot of what Taco Bell offers. Been one of my favorite places to go since my teens. And they for the most part have stayed relatively cheep over the decades. I ate there for lunch earlier this week and got a burrito and two tacos and it was $4.75. A hell of a lot less than a $11 meal at McDonald's. Wendy's quality to me is okay for their higher prices. I go to Wendy's knowing I am going to pay more than most fast food burger joints. But sometimes you just want a Baconater and a Frosty. And I am fine with that being $10. I just don't go often.

Fast food is highly palatable. All the salt and sugar totally satisfies the taste buds. Health wise ? It kills you slowly.

I don’t eat it often, but I love me some Taco Bell. Unless you’re worried about sodium, it’s one of the easier fast food joints to eat halfway nutritiously at, as well.
If I’m getting a fast food burger, I prefer Burger King. Wendy’s is good, but I haven’t lived conveniently close to one in a while.
I have to agree that McDonald is consistent. It’s probably my least favorite of the fast food burgers around me, but if I want some hot salty grease, they will do.
I do miss Chick-fil-A. I haven’t been in a long time, and while they were inconsistent, when they were good, they were very good. Love the waffle fries, miss the carrot and raisin salad. Theirs was by far my favorite. Grocery store versions always have way too much mayonnaise. That’s a recipe I can duplicate at home pretty well though.

A couple of other folk have told me the same. (...) Tastes the same in Croatia as well, although the last time I went to McDonald's here was well over 5 years ago (more like 6 or 7 now that I think about it). Also went to McDonald's once each in Budapest in 1992, and in Graz, Austria in 1993. Again, everything tasted the same.

That reminds me, foxley, does Foster’s lager taste the same in both the UK and Australia?

They have raised their prices because of inflation, but they offer cheaper meal deals. Wendy's has done the same. They have increased well beyond inflation, but again, that does vary regionally. That's the point that gets lost in talk of inflation and pricing. it isn't just inflation that affects pricing, because "the market" isn't the sole actor on such things, despite economic theory. With "the market" largely in the hands of corporations, everything has to fit within their ideas of "growth." Conglomerates and investors care more about growth than profitability. A small businessman will have to raise prices on his goods or services because of increased costs. That's inflation. Corporations want a targeted growth and investors expect that, for a quick return on their investment. So, corporations raise their prices by more than the rate of inflation to maintain their growth statistics and attract investment, which is far more important than satisfying customers. In their minds, their customers are Wall Street, not John Q Public, who is trying to feed and clothe his family on a budget. These are the same forces that fight minimum wage increases to keep up with inflation and feed more money back into the economy. That might mean not getting a bigger bonus and we can't have that.

Too many people paid them on Tuesday, for their hamburgers, today. It was like a food ponzi scheme.
